Issue #100 - Decbember 2009
  100th Issue

This marks the 100th issue of Elsewhere, my little newsletter devoted to me.  If you think a personal newsletter is a "bit" narcissistic, you could be right.  But, this is my website.  What else am I supposed to write about?

As far as updates, the big news is the addition of IMAGE_171, replacing Vista Drive.  Vista Drive served me well for eight years, but it was time to move on and start anew, so to speak.  I wanted to have larger pictures on the screen, since some of the Vista Dr. pictures looked small on certain screens.  But you have to remember that I started Vista Drive in 2001, and many people didn't use high screen resolutions back then.  Besides that, IMAGE_171 is going to be more filtered.  By that I mean that I'm going to update it only when I have a photo that meets a higher standard.  I want each photo displayed there to be memorable.  The mistake I made with Vista Dr. was adding too many pictures.  Over time that part of the site became bloated and many people only saw a few of the over 1,000 pictures.  In short, it was time for a move.  Hope you enjoy IMAGE_171 when it opens on January 1st, 2010.

Afterthoughts : El Phoenix

El Phoenix

My buddy Joe died nearly two years ago.  The car his mother gave me died this past month.  The JoeMobile served me well for nearly two years.  But wear and long commutes to work finally broke it down.  My replacement car is the one pictured above.. my old Subaru.  I drove this car from about 1994 until it "died" three years ago.  But I always hoped that someday I would be able to fix it.  When the JoeMobile died my mechanic suggested I fix my Subaru.  I agreed, and now I'm driving around in a car that sat idyl for over three years.  The Subaru, now dubbed El Phoenix, is not perfect, but she is wonderful.  It's like returning to a familiar place.  I spent some of my happiest years driving that car.  I hope that the second time around is as happy.

Etcetera : Reciprocity

For eight years I updated the portion of this site known as Vista Drive.  A couple of months back I decided that it was time to move on and start a new site.  But the bigger news is that my works will be on display from mid November till mid January 2010.  It is the culmination of eight years of work on my part, and marks the end of Vista Drive and the start of IMAGE_171 (my new photographic site).  I hope any of you who still read this newsletter will go to the Crowell public library in that time to view my works.  Thank you.

Shoppe : Vista Drive book

I decided to create a book with some of my favorite images off Vista Drive.  To buy a copy click on the link.
