Three Years of Ecstasy
|
First Things First
August 2004 marks my homepage's third anniversary. I started this
homepage as my last great attempt at creating a homepage. If you
look around I believe you will find that this homepage is at the very
least diverse.
As far as updates go, they are as follows. Vista Drive gets more
pictures to all three sections. Hotel now has over 100 pictures,
and is updated randomly. So, do check back often to see what's new there.

Afterthoughts : The Construction Site
Years ago I lived next to a private school. When the private
school was sold, a huge office building started to take its
place. I was about 9 years old. A couple of friends of mine
came over one Sunday night, and convinced me to go check out the
construction site. There was a wall that we had to jump, one I
had jumped many times before. Getting in wasn't that bad, but it
was in trying to get out that we found ourselves slightly
trapped. The site was dark, and it was really hard to see where
we were going. Tools, equipment, and building supplies were all
around. Take one step to the right and you might step on a
pipe. Take a step to the left and you might step into a
bucket. Take a step forward, and you might fall. After a
few minutes on the site we decided to leave. The idea was so much
more than the reality. On our way out we found that it was much
more difficult to reach the top of the wall that we used to get
in. Jumping down to something is so much easier than climbing
out. And that is what we faced. One of my friends easily
made it over. But me and my other friend found it harder.
And it wasn't like we could just jump, and hope for the best on a
second attempt. A short jump, or a missed grip, and we would fall
into the excavated pit, and end up near the buildings foundation.
We thought that wasn't so bad, but having to be rescued, and facing our
parents, now that was scary. So me and my friend found a way to
get out via the back of the construction site. It was a longer
way, and we weren't sure we could make it that way either. But,
the alternative would be a dangerous jump. It turned out that the
back way was very simple. So simple that it was like walking
through the front door of a house. After that we never went back
to the construction site. I moved out of that place soon
after. The building is still there, and I often pass it when I'm
driving home. It taught me a lesson. Sometimes we think
something is going to be the greatest thing ever, but it could just end
up being a total dud.

Editorial : Wrong at a critical Time
There are moments in history when the wrong person for the job is the
exact person that gets the job. History will remember George W.
Bush as such a person. Because at this moment in history, after
the Cold War, after the United States was the only superpower in the
world, and after and economic upturn, one George W. Bush came
along. In a moment of leadership, he turned thoughtless. In
a moment of grief, he turned vengeful. In a moment of unity, he
turned nations against our country.
He has gone from being called a uniter, to perhaps being the most
divisive president in our history. He talks of freedoms, but has
taken more rights away from the citizens of this country than anyone
else. He talks of prosperity for all, but only millionaires get
richer. He talks about character, then lies about his reasons for
going to war. He mocks a war veteran, despite being AWOL for his
service. And he talks about his love of freedom, but imposes his
religious beliefs on everyone.
In short, history will remember George W. Bush for all the mistakes he
has made. Because there are no moments in which he has risen to
the occasion. There are no moments in which he has helped. He has only hindered. Because there haven't been moments in which he didn't take a
vacation, instead of being proactive. Because everything he
touches turns to crap.
For all these reasons it is time for George W. Bush to go home.
The time has come for a majority (again) to vote against him.
Because it is time to right a wrong that was perpetrated upon us nearly
four years ago. Come November, please, please, vote for John Kerry.

Etcetera : Works in Progress
Like I stated before this month marks this site's third
anniversary. When I started this site I wanted it to showcase my
photography, and my writing. But I also wanted it to be a nice
place to visit.
It's not always easy to get an idea online. Sometimes an idea is
too big, or too hard, to get online. Sometimes an idea simply
never goes anywhere. Sometimes it just takes longer than one
expects. I have a lot of new ideas for this site, and some old
ones. These projects are in various states. Some just need
a little more work. Some are nowhere near the point that I could
even work on them.
I mention this because there were a couple of projects that I started
this year, yet have gone nowhere. So from time to time I start a
project, get about 80% of the way towards putting it online, foolishly
announce it, and then nothing ever shows up. For that I am sorry.
There is one project that I speak of specifically, The Face
Project. My idea was to take people's portrait. Then the
idea morphed into taking some really nice portraits of people.
But, I have encountered a problem. No one wants to pose for
me. It's the same problem I've had in the past. See, the
project wasn't just going to be one person's portrait, but dozens of
people's portraits. I'm still asking people to pose, but I don't
think that I'll find many takers. See, the idea was also to
showcase people who are beautiful, but wouldn't be found in magazines.
Alas that project is on hold. I hope to bring many more ideas to
this site. Some of them will come sooner than later. Some won't
come at all. I know, it's bad to advertise something, and then
not deliver it. I just get so excited about certain projects that
I can't help but spill the beans.
In closing, I want to thank everyone who visits my site. I do
hope you enjoy it, and come back over, and over, again.
