Issue #285 - May 2025

Damn... How is it already May?!?

Afterthoughts: This Past Month

I don't know where the time goes.  Here it is, already May 2025.  Time for the update.

parking kiosk at Universal Metro station

Tuesday, April, 1, For this week's Tuesday Adventure I planned on going to UCLA to check out a garden there.  But last night I was thinking I shouldn't go there because class is still in session and it would be harder to find parking.  So, I changed my mind and found that I could go to the Hollywood Bowl museum.  Parking there is not good, and I couldn't find where I could park to go to the museum.  I figured I could go on the bus, but the one line that services the bowl only runs at night.  This meant that I would have to take the subway to Hollywood and then walk up to the bowl.  Fine... I thought I would park at the Universal station and take the subway from there.  Well, parking there used to be free, but not anymore.  It's only $3 all day parking.  Paying for parking was an ordeal.  At first I tried the website, but every time I tried to enter my payment information the website said that it was invalid.  I tried my debit card, my Am Ex, and even put value on Apple Cash.  None of them were valid according to the website.  I then went to the kiosk, which wasn't any easier to navigate.  It wanted me to scan my Tap card, but it couldn't accept the virtual card on my phone.  I had to enter my license plate number.  That FINALLY did the trick.

Hollywood Bowl

The Hollywood Bowl museum is a small museum on the grounds of the Hollywood Bowl.  I took longer walking there than I spent in the museum.  It's cool.  There was a nice overview of the history of the bowl.  Like the bowl isn't named after the structure, but rather the canyon.  The best part of my visit was photographing the structure outside the entrance called Muse of Music.

burger from Norm's in Burbank

There are a bunch of burger stands that I want to try out in Los Angeles.  Norm's is one that I pass by at least once a month.  Usually when I'm on my way to downtown Burbank to have dinner with TheGirl.  But, Norm's closes at 3pm, so by dinner time there's no chance at having a burger.  After my Tuesday Adventure to the Hollywood Bowl museum this morning I had enough time to go up to Burbank and get a burger at Norm's.  I have to say that it's good, but not amazing.  A good burger, with some really nice bacon.  That was the star of the burger.  Everything else was just good, but again, not great.  I'm not sure what to call this style of burger, because there are tons of places around town that make burgers like this.  I guess you can call it a diner burger.  Certainly not a gourmet burger.

Kerri and I were in the Casa Verdugo kitchen this afternoon when she told me that she had had a meeting with our new director, Lessa.  Kerri told me that Lessa asked her if she knew why I didn't apply for the full time bookmobile job.  Kerri told her the truth... that I felt that I wouldn't get the job, because they don't hire from within.  She didn't tell me what Lessa said about that.  Perhaps I will ask Kerri what the response was.  Because, it would be interesting to know what Lessa thinks of that statement.  I hope she understands that there are good people in the system that have been passed over multiple times in favor of people from the outside that find it super easy to quit the job after a short amount of time.

Jessica Caloza at the Chavez event

Wednesday, April, 2, I checked online to find that I am on the Jessica Caloza Instagram feed.  She posted some pictures of the Chavez event that I worked on Saturday.  I'm famous!  Yeah, sure.

Mitzi

The second hummingbird is back at Brand.  Blair suggested we name the second hummingbird Mitzi, after another character in the movie Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.  Mitzi it is.

I went to the market before going to TheGirl's place because I wanted to pick up a bottle of whiskey.  Just one.  You know you have a problem when the clerk tells you, "You usually get two bottles."  Jeez.  This was the second store clerk to make that statement to me in just over a week's time.  I am trying to cut down on my drinking.  Not having two bottles might help, because I know I won't have that spare booze in case I finish up all the booze I have at home.

Cheyenne

When I showed up to TheGirl's place tonight I found Cheyenne in much better spirits.  She pawed me, which is something she didn't do last week.  And she was jumping (a little).  TheGirl has her on meds, and they obviously have helped her feel better.  Seeing her struggle to walk last week was heartbreaking.  She was hungry at dinner last week, but she also seemed down.  Glad to have the old Cheyenne back.

the ladies

TheGirl and I went to Isabella's in Burbank tonight, because it was windy.  Isabella's is our choice for when we need to be inside due to wind or rain.  Their "patio" is just part of the restaurant that is isolated from the rest of the restaurant.  It is like a patio in front of a house that's been enclosed.  TheGirl ordered chicken pesto and a meatball for Cheyenne.  I had the ravioli, because I didn't want what I usually get there.  I like to try different items.  While nothing award winning, my ravioli was good.

Thursday, April, 3, I woke up without a raspy throat, but I still have the sniffles.  I blew my nose and it was clear.  But then later I blew it again and the snot was a light yellow.  I blew it at lunchtime and it was both clear one time, and the next time it was light yellowish.  This makes no sense.  But, as long as I feel better I'll just keep on truckin'.

bad news for Carl's Jr. in Pacific Grove

A Carl's Jr. that I visited a few times in Pacific Grove burned down today.  Here's the article from KSBW online.

The Carl's Jr. on Lighthouse and David Ave. burned down today.

MONTEREY, California
A fire broke out Thursday morning at the Carl's Jr. located at the corner of Lighthouse and David Avenue in Pacific Grove, just a block from the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Fire crews reported that the restaurant had been burning since 6:37 a.m. and remained an active scene for hours. It has since been contained to just the business.  More than 38 firefighters are still working to put the remainder of the fire out as well as hot spots with help from CAL FIRE, Seaside, Marina, Salinas, and Monterey Regional Fire.  Footage from the scene shows crews working to extinguish the fire, which initially filled the attic area with heavy smoke and quickly spread through the roof.  Employees inside the restaurant at the time of the fire were preparing for the day but were evacuated quickly. No injuries have been reported, but the building is now a complete loss.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Not that I have fond memories of this Carl's Jr. but I have eaten there over the years.  I had more than one Thanksgiving meal there when I used to go up to Carmel every year.  Times are so difficult that being that it was a total loss might mean it won't return for a long time or ever.

bra

Towards the end of the shift I turned around where I was sitting and I spotted on the shelves behind me a package that I thought contained masks.  I picked it up and felt something and as I looked I realized it was a bra.  For a pretty big chest, might I add.  Why do we have it behind the desk?  I don't know.  I would have thrown it away.  Although, it would be nice to see who the owner of the bra is.  It was a new bra in the package, so I doubt the owner will ever claim it.

bus stop girl

Friday, April, 4, There's a pretty girl that I see standing at the bus stop on Broadway between Artsakh and Brand.  Sigh.

goose

I normally end my Fridays at Chevy Chase but today I decided to go there first on my route.  I think I might go back to going to Chevy first, because of the way the timing went on the rest of the route.

When I got to Chevy I heard the sound of geese behind me.  Sure enough two geese landed on the roof of the fire department.  They were still there when I left.

Charlie Cart

My coworker Tony talked to me about something in the basement yesterday and that I should go see it.  He wasn't very specific about what it was except to say that it was some kind of kitchen.  I went downstairs to check out what this thing was this morning.  It was a portable kitchen with a name... Charlie Cart.  Now what is a Charlie Cart?  I had to do some research.  I found some videos online describing it, but here is what the website CharlieCart dot-org says for itself.

The Charlie Cart Project equips the next generation with the knowledge and confidence to make healthy food choices through hands-on cooking.  We partner with educators and community organizations to provide everything they need to get kids cooking. We provide schools and community organizations with their own portable, compact mobile kitchen, along with all the tools, lessons, recipes and support needed to build a comprehensive food education program.

Under the heading "How can libraries use Charlie Cart" it says:

Cooking classes: Patrons unleash their inner chef with hands-on cooking classes hosted right in the library.  Led by local chefs or by passionate library staff, these classes cater to various skill levels and interests using the Charlie Cart Mobile Cart as the platform to launch food programming.  Participants learn practical cooking techniques, recipe tips, and the art of creating delicious, nutritious meals.

OKAY... I wonder who the fuck is going to be doing all this cooking.  I joked with Vagabundo that this cart would be my next bookmobile.  He joked back that I need to get a chef's hat.  Mark my words, I'll be cooking on that thing when the librarian who was supposed to do it will need help or doesn't want to do it.  Just like the bookmobile.

I did a little digging, aka a google search, to see how much they spent on this thing.  The website says that the cost is $14,500 plus $1,000 shipping and handling.  So they spent $16,000 on this thing??  Cause there has to be a tax on it, right?  Meanwhile they claim poverty.  They're going to say that they money came from a Grant, but I still call BS.

Honolulu ave.

I was coming back from the Montrose library when some dummy went around me and cut me off because he felt I wasn't closing the gap between the car in front of me.  The situation isn't cut and dry, which is why I chose to stay behind the crosswalk.  I see so many dummies in the crosswalk when they should stay behind it in case someone wants to cross the street.  The way the crosswalk is in relation to a driveway to the south-side of the street means that there is a gap of up to two or even three cars between the crosswalk and the area past the driveway.  I don't want to be one of those douchebags that block the cross walk, or the driveway.  Because in doing so it creates more traffic on the narrow street.  But this guy behind me only saw the space in front of me, and went around me.  Mind you, he gained nothing.  Because the light was red and all of us still had to wait for the light to turn green.  Once it did I was right behind him.  So, like I said, he gained nothing.  Idiot.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Saturday, April, 5, I had my longest interactions with Abigail from Pollo Loco this morning.  She asked me if I was there for a pick up, and I pointed to the bag she had worked on a few moments before.  She said she was sorry because instead of asking me she had turned around and started stuffing another order into a bag.  This is the most we have talked to each other.  It was the highlight of my day.

I still have a little case of the sniffles.  My snot is still clear though.  Maybe I do have allergies.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

The hummingbird at the Brand library was named after the movie "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," so I figured I better watch the movie to see what inspired her name.  I can't say it's going to be on my favorites, but it was good.  I think I missed some things on my viewing, because I went online to see reviews from other people and they loved it.  I mean, I didn't hate it, but I did miss some things.  After listening to reviews I can appreciate the movie a little bit more.  In an era where we STILL encounter bigotry against LGBTQ+ individuals, it's good to see that a movie like this has been embraced by a whole country.  Priscilla is apparently HUGE in Australia.  And I like that we adopted the name as well for our hummingbirds.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Sunday, April, 6, I didn't realize it until last night that I'll be off this coming Tuesday, because I'll be working Saturday with the bookmobile.  That means an extended Tuesday Adventure.  But I didn't know where to go.  I did have some things on my list, so I decided that I'm going to go out to Claremont to the California Botanic Garden.  That won't kill the entire day, so I think I'll swing by the Vincent Price Museum.  For lunch I think I'll go to Claro's market.  Ilsa has told me that it's good, and the internet says the same.

I was finishing my breakfast when my aunt turns to me and says, "You're not feeling well, are you?"  Here we go again.  She tells me that I must not be feeling well, because I haven't fixed the leaky pressure valve.  I told her that she was nuts, and that I had the parts to fix it today.  Then I told her not to talk to me and stop inventing things.  Terrible.

dopes at the market

There were so many dopes at the market today.  I went to Super King, but bailed on them because I couldn't find a parking spot.  I went to Jon's instead.  Then at the Pavilions there were dopes blocking my way.  I wanted to get cottage cheese and sour cream, which are located right by each other.  When I first went there was a mom and her kid there.  I figured I could swing around again, but when I did some other dope was just standing there.  He stayed there for about a minute.  Come on idiots... MOVE.

there... I fixed it

After coming back for my errands I took to the pressure valve.  Thankfully it didn't take too long to take the valve apart and replace all the pieces.  I didn't see anything too worn down on the old parts, except maybe the spring.  Either way it seems that the new parts did the trick.  My aunt mentioned that the water was no longer leaking.  Whew!

I get emails from LADWP showing that we are a household that is considered a low water use home.  I have to thank the new washing machine for that.  But also, we do try to limit our use of water.  My aunt doesn't go crazy watering her plants.  And my showers aren't super long.  This leak definitely made us use more water.  I figured that we were losing three to five gallons of water a day at one point.  At first it wasn't that bad, because my aunt said that she only had to change the bucket once a day.  But last week she was not only changing it at least two times a day, but she added a big tub, because the bucket would be overflowing.  And this isn't a small bucket, it's at least three gallons.  That meant we were probably losing up to ten gallons a day.  That adds up really fast.

Inca Kola

I've been wanting to try this soda called Inca Kola for a while now.  I've seen it at Jon's supermarket for years.  But it was only until recently that I felt I really should try it.  I didn't want to get the two liter size, because what if it tastes terrible?  Then I just wasted my money.  Thankfully it tastes good.

contest

I saw on social media that my old job at San Marino is conducting a library card design contest.  I can't enter it, because they only allow people that live, or work, or go to school, in San Marino to submit an entry.

Monday, April, 7, When I go to the Treasury department I find that Marie is normally wearing pants.  Once in a while she will wear a dress, but they are never that short.  Today she wore the shortest dress I've ever seen her in.  It's not like it was super short, but it was above the knee.  Which meant that I got to check out her legs.  She has nice legs.  Sigh. She knows how to use them.

look, there's a ghost

I was loading up the van when I saw a ghost walking across the street.  Yeah, it was a "ghost."

graphic isn't centered

I walked out of the elevator and walked over to the info desk, or whatever it's called, and I was looking right at the giant mock library card that was made for the opening of the new children's room.  I don't know why I've never seen it before, but I noticed from about twenty feet that the graphic wasn't centered.  I went ahead and created a line, and then duplicated it, to illustrate how the graphic is off center.  I know these dopes use Canva for all the graphics, which isn't as good as Photoshop.  But it costs less than Photoshop and doesn't require the skills of knowing Photoshop.  I know what it's like to mess up something very simple, because after a while you can't see the light mistakes.  But there are four people working on these things.  How do none of them catch these mistakes that I keep catching?

everyone loves to park in driveways in Glendale

In Glendale aside from doing donuts and driving like idiots, I think everyone's favorite douchebag move is to park in driveways.  I was at the fire station, walking back to the delivery van, when some dummy parked right in the driveway.  They saw me pull out and get right by them, but they still didn't move.  I honked lightly, and still they didn't move.  I gave them a second honk that was a little longer, but not aggressive.  The dummy finally moved.  ARGH!

many bins for Central

I was telling Vagabundo that since the end of float the amount of books going back to Central has doubled.  Normally I have about a half dozen book bins, but now I regularly get a dozen on Mondays and sometimes Fridays.  Floating was a terrible idea, and this illustrates why it was.  All those books would stay at the other branches, when they should be going back to Central.  Because the branches don't have the room for those books.  I suspect this has now found its old equilibrium, and this will be the new normal.

thank you bookmobile socks... but where are mine?

When I came back from delivery I noticed some bags that were going out on delivery tomorrow.  Inside were themed socks with the same images that were used in the novelty pen for the bookmobile.  Attached were lists of names for people that were going to get them.  My name wasn't on any of the lists, despite the fact that I'm the dummy that's driving the bookmobile.  I texted Misa asking where my socks were.  She said she would get me a pair.  Damn right.

my last order here?

I go to the McDonald's on Central on my way to TheGirl's place for our traditional Monday visit.  I think I'm going to stop going there.  For the last two weeks I've gone to pick up my mobile order, only to stand by the front counter, like a dope, waiting for someone to hand me the order that's already sitting on the shelf behind the counter.  For some reason the employees there seem to ignore me standing there as they hand orders to other dopes right beside me.  I shouldn't be eating that shit anyway.  I think I'll figure out how to eat something light before leaving work and then eating something small when I get home.  Or just waiting until I get home to have a light dinner.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Tuesday, April, 8, There are several things I want to talk to a doctor about.  Mainly these nights where I seem to be having an anxiety attack.  I get anxious, thinking every little sound is an earthquake.  I put myself in bad sorts.  And then there's the issue of my drinking, which I can directly change.  I'm really going to try to only drink on Wednesdays and one day of the weekend, not all three nights... Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  I didn't drink a drop last night and I woke up feeling great.  I'm rereading Big Sur by Kerouac and he talks about drinking a lot, and how when you drink so much you don't even feel drunk anymore.  I'm not to that point, but I do feel what he said was just being in a bad way.  I get through the days, but how is that living?  So I went to the doctor's office to make an appointment.  They said they don't have anything until May.  That's fine.  I'm not in a rush.  I'll curb my drinking, and I'm sure that will help a lot.  Beyond that the doctor can hopefully put me on the right track.  But as I write that I do think that almost all of these problems are based on my drinking.

California Botanic Garden

I only heard of the California Botanic Garden late last year when I was trying to figure out what I could do on my newly minted Tuesday Adventures.  I knew I would need more time, so I decided to keep it for a Tuesday where I would be off the entire day.  Like today.  It's a nice garden.  I think I like it more than the South Coast botanic garden.  It's certainly a big place.  The lady at the front said that it was eighty-eight acres.  That's pretty good.  And me without my good wide brim hat.  I took a lot of photos.  I saw some scrub jays, and some hummingbirds.  One hummingbird I caught taking a bath in one of the fountains.  It was so cute.  Then it flew to a nearby branch and fixed its feathers.  Lovely.  Hummingbirds are the best.

submarine sandwich from Claro's

Ilsa has told me about Claro's market, and how yummy the subs are.  I also saw online that many food bloggers say it's a good sandwich.  So, I had to try it, since I was out in that direction.  I went to the Claro's in Covina.  It's a nice joint, full of nice smells.  They had a good selection of frozen foods that I really wanted to take with me, but I had no good way to keep them cold.  So, I stuck to the sub.  I ordered the Great Grandpa Joe sub, which turned out to be really good.  It consists of capocollo, mortadella, dry salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, sliced pepperoncini and oil dressing.  I ordered it without tomato, and added mayo to it when I got to the park.  It was yummy.

Vincent Price museum

It was still early, so I decided to go to the Vincent Price museum at East Los Angeles College.  Well, when I got there they told me that only one gallery was open.  So I checked it out.  I was done in five minutes.  The lady at the front counter told me that the rest of the galleries were going to open at the end of the month.  Just my luck.  I'll have to come back another day.

I got a phone call after I got home today from my Tuesday Adventures from Krishna about more bookmobile dates until mid August.  I would have thought they would have someone hired by then, but even they know that they won't have anyone until the earliest September.

Vagabundo made a good point that all these things, like the bookmobile and that new portable kitchen, are just for someone to be able to say, "I initiated this," such and such program and they put it on their resume.  Nothing ever really happens, just that things are bought and resumes are enhanced.  That would explain why they start a lot of programs, but they never go anywhere.  It's just a box they can check off and after that they don't have to do any actual work.  Win, win, I suppose for them.

Colwell building

I was driving out of the campus of COLLEGE when I spied with my little eye a cool looking building.  I pulled over to check it out, because who knows when I would be out this way.  I love these kind of buildings because of how sleek they look.  I later checked online for the history of the building.  According to the website architectureprize dot-com:

The Colwell Building is a beautiful and historic project designed by Edward Durell Stone.  The architecture resides at the north end of the Claremont Colleges.  Originally a part of the School of Theology, but was recently acquired by the colleges. It is older now and a little in disrepair, but still maintains clean modernist lines, grand overhangs and lush landscaping.

That covers it.  I quickly took a few pictures and got out of Dodge.

me with my new hat

Wednesday, April, 9, I lost my floppy hat on the day of the Cesar Chavez event.  I looked in the bookmobile, but no luck.  It wasn't there, nor anywhere else I looked.  I figure it's lost lost.  So, I bought a new one.  The thing is, they delivered it overnight.  The delivery was made a little after 4am.  Now that's what I call super service.  And boy did I need the hat on the route today.  It was warm.  Not hot, but warm.  I need everything I have to keep that sun from baking me.

girl from the ARC

I don't even know why I continue to write about the girl from the Adult Recreation Center.  She never looks at me, and I try not to look at her.  But today she was right in front of the van again.  And she was looking good.  I curse myself doing this the wrong way.  I should get a pair out of the fridge, like my mom used to say to me.  Meaning a pair of eggs... aka balls.  But even if I got a pair and asked her out, there's zero chance she's going to want to go out with me.

I had my longest interaction with Marie from the Treasury department today.  I thought she was leaving for her break, but she had just come back.  She stood at the door to the inner part of the office.  I could just... like that song says, my eyes adored her.  Alas, our conversation ended and I went on my merry way on the route.  I told her about my Tuesday Adventure to the California Botanic Garden, and told her I would share some of the pictures I took.  I sent her a link to the entire album.

TheGirl at dinner tonight

TheGirl and I already knew we were going to go to the Dog Haus at the Burbank airport for dinner tonight.  They are dog friendly, and that was good because despite originally having plans of eating on the patio, it was still a bit too warm for that when we got there a little after 5:30pm.  We decided to sit inside, where it was cool.  I hadn't had what they call the Fonz in a long time.  It consists of a spicy Italian sausage, pastrami and mozzarella cheese on top.  It hits the spot.  Add some loaded tots and I was in pig heaven.

Afterward TheGirl got me a donut from Randy's, which is right next door to the Dog Haus.  We also walked around the industrial complex and found a nice little sitting area in a courtyard where we might be able to have a future dinner.  Maybe.  I think it is for the offices that surround it.  But, we didn't see anyone there, so maybe we could fudge it.

dog walker?

Thursday, April, 10, There was a new girl walking her dog in my neighborhood.  She could be a dog walker, but whatever it is she was nice.  She had a really nice figure.  I've never seen her before, nor her dog.  I mean, I don't spend a lot of time here at hope just looking out the front door, so why would I see her?  I do see another lady that for sure is my neighbor walk her dog in the morning.  She's pretty good, but this one is nice.

new MILF at Casa

We had a new batch of MILFs for today's storytime.  There was one particularly pretty MILF that said she was from Sherman Oaks.  Interesting.  The thing with storytime is that sometimes a lady will come in with her kids, and she becomes a regular.  But then other times it's a one shot deal.  I wonder if this lady will show up again next week.  I haven't seen the au pair in a long time.  I think her kid aged out of storyline, or she isn't working in the neighborhood anymore.

I got a text from Kerri yesterday asking if I could make a special run to the treasury department today.  I reminded her that I wasn't driving today... Tony was.  She then asked if I could make an extra special trip, because they didn't want to ask Tony.  The hell?  OK.  I was going to originally go early, before my shift started at Casa.  But then they said I didn't have to be there until 11:30am.  Hmmm.  OK then.  I left Casa about 11:15am.  I didn't leave earlier, because I was in the middle of helping a patron.  I got to treasury by 11:35am.  I got to see Marie again, but only from afar.  Sigh.

I like how no one expects Tony to ever make a special delivery.

piece of bagel

I was told that today was National Library worker's day, or something like that.  Because of that we got bagels with cream cheese from admin.  I ate half a bagel on my evening break, because I was still hungry.  My salad was good, but I guess it wasn't enough.  Oh well, the bagel hit the spot.

Carl's Jr. is being sneaky

This is from the other day, but I forgot to post it until today.  While I was walking from the Vincent Price Art Museum to where my car was parked, I walked by a Carl's Jr that had a sneaky sign selling their spicy chicken sandwich.  My buddy, Vagabundo, and I often reminisce about the old spicy chicken sandwich.  Which was easily twice as big as the one they sell these days.  The price back then was $0.99.  The sign in the window at Carl's has a $1 price, with a small and sneaky $0.99.  If you are driving by you will see the $1 but you may not see the $0.99.  This is sneaky.

hole-ly pants

Friday, April, 11, I was sitting down during the morning meeting when I looked down at my pants and I saw that I had a hole right on my crotch.  I tend to wear out my pants in the crotch area, for some reason.  I tried to hide my hole all day long.  I'm not sure if anyone saw it or not.  I'm sure if someone did see it they weren't going to say anything... because it's right at my crotch.  And to say something is to kinda admit that you were looking down there.  Ha ha!

Spring display at Brand, featuring hummingbirds

When I got to Brand I was told that Arielle had drawn a pair of hummingbirds, in honor of our two mama hummingbirds, to go on this month's display.  How cool.

library tote bag

A couple of weeks ago administration sent out a bunch of tote bags to the branches, along with signage proclaiming the price of $15.  I asked around, no one has sold a tote.  More than one person told me that they are too expensive.  Right now Trader Joe's has lines of people waiting to buy their totes, because they are trending, and because they only cost $3.

the line outside the Montrose Trader Joe's

When I arrived at Montrose sure enough there was a line of people outside the Trader Joe's waiting to buy their tote bags.  I saw a woman with three in her hand.

Brand library trio wearing bookmobile socks

A trio of the ladies from the Brand library posed for a photo with the new bookmobile socks.  I kinda like the socks that are red and blue, because at least they have those kinda cool stripes.  The green and yellow one's don't even have a picture of the bookmobile on them.  Just random silhouettes of places in town.  Mostly the Americana.

Saturday, April, 12, I was feeling like jerking off last night, but my stupid computer failed me.  It has a bunch of things wrong with it.  Last night it kept going into beach ball of death mode.  I finally just said fuck it and decided to get drunk instead of trying to get the computer to work.  Sad.  Perhaps it's time to get a new computer.

bookmobile Saturday

It was another bookmobile Saturday event today.  This time the bookmobile showed up to the city's Eggstravaganza.  The whole day went pretty well.  I still have issues with the computer, but I'm working around them.  I notice that a lot more people than I thought walk around the streets of Glendale without their IDs.  What's up with that?  I understand not bringing your library card to an Easter event, but your ID?  So many patrons told me, "I didn't bring my ID with me."  I need to talk to Krishna about this, since the bookmobile people will have to deal with this issue and more.

The pretty girl that works for the Parks department was there.  I didn't get to see her as much as last time.  I kinda like these events because she real easy on the eye.  Just another gorgeous Armenian girl that works for the parks department.

oh... there's my hat

I went to the passenger side door of the bookmobile to get something to drink from my bag, and to let out a few farts.  I open the door and boom, out comes my missing hat.  I knew I lost it in the bookmobile, but I didn't think to look at the passenger side.  Dummy.  So now I have two hats.

Renia

Renia G. has been a coworker of mine for a few years now.  She used to work more hours, but then she finished school and got herself a good job.  She still works for the library from time to time, which is why it's rare for me to see her.  But when I see her it's crazy nice.  She is super thin, but has a really nice figure.  I really could stare at her butt all day.  It's a nice teardrop shape... the kind I like.  Alas.

Corner Market brisket pastrami

I was talking to one of my coworkers about local food joints, and I mentioned that I wanted to try the sandwiches from a place called Corner Market on Pacific Ave.  I've driven by that place at least once a week since I don't know how long.  Since I was working in Glendale today I figure that I would swing by and get a sandwich.  They make a brisket pastrami that tastes a little different from other pastrami I've had.  Not necessarily better, but different.  That's not to say it wasn't good, it was pretty good.  It doesn't come close to being as good as the best in Los Angeles.  Next time I go I will have to tell them not to toast the bread, because I feel they over-toasted it.  I only finished half of it, so hopefully a night in the fridge will soften it up.

dino chicken nuggets

Sunday, April, 13, The last time I was at the market I wanted to get some Tyson chicken nuggets, but I only found the dino nuggets.  Well, on today's market run I tried to find the regular nuggets only to find more dino nuggets.  Jeez, I know Tyson makes the regular nuggets, but I guess the markets I go to only have the dino version.  Damn.

screen shot of food from Basil

All the places that meant Carmel to me are closing.  The latest victim is Basil.  Here is what the owner wrote on social media.

Dear all,

It is with immense sadness that I must announce the closure of Basil Seasonal Dining after all these years in business.

Several factors have contributed to this incredibly difficult decision - including the current economic climate, a significant decline in business, rising labor costs, inflation, and the overall shift in the restaurant industry, as many of you have seen firsthand. Despite my best efforts, I am no longer able to continue operating.

I want to thank all the guests who have supported Basil Carmel over the past 20+ years. Your patronage has meant the world to me, and this has been an extremely difficult decision to make.

I am deeply saddened, but at the same time incredibly grateful to my employees, who have done an outstanding job every single day. You are the heart of what made Basil special.

Thank you as well to the entire community of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the Monterey Peninsula. Your support and kindness will always stay with me.

I will remember you all with an open heart and endless gratitude for allowing me to be part of this wonderful community and for supporting my dream for so many years.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Denis Boaro
Owner

I know I ate at Basil once with TheGirl, but I want to say I ate there more times.  I just don't remember.  I do remember following their social media feed and thinking about returning on a future trip.  As I said before, all the restaurants that meant Carmel to me are closing.  First it was Club Jalapeno years ago.  Then it was Forge in the Forest, late last year.  Now Basil.  The economy has been tough on these places.  It's a thin line between success and failure in the restaurant business.

TheNewCute on her last day at Casa - 2023

I know I should stop "celebrating" these events... and I say that because by writing about them it seems like I'm celebrating things.  Two years ago today it was TheNewCute's last official day at Casa Verdugo.  She was already working at Brand, but Gitmo asked the bosses if she could still work at Casa while they got coverage.  They said yes, but the deadline was April 13th.  The crew at Casa had already given her our official good-byes, but today was the last day I got to work with her.  I would see her at Brand, but we never worked another shift together.  Which was crazy, because we had worked together at Glendale and at San Marino.  It was a unique situation that I don't think I'll ever experience again.

Monday, April, 14, After that whole thing with waiting for my food at McDonald's the last two weeks I have decided that I will no longer go to that McDonald's on Mondays after work.  I have been thinking about this for a while, but dumb me didn't think about it yesterday.  It wasn't until just before I went to bed that I thought about what I was going to eat Monday after work.  I decided that I would just come home and eat something after visiting with TheGirl.  If I get hungry I have crackers and nuts in my work bag.

mocking magazine

I've thought of contacting TheNewCute countless times since she went silent.  There are things that remind me of her.  Today it was a magazine that had her name on the cover.  Sigh.

I was in the treasury department when the attractive cleaning lady came in and gave me a smile.  When she left I turned to say bye and I noticed she was giving me a look.  Not sure if it's contempt or what, but it was a look.

earthquake in Julian, CA

I was just entering the Montrose village area when my radio show stopped and I heard a warning sound, that sounded like an Amber alert.  I looked down at my old iPhone and I saw that it says there's an earthquake warning.  Just then I get the same warning on my watch.  My phone was in my pocket, but I could see on my old iPhone that the magnitude was 5.8.  That's a significant event.  Then I saw that it was in San Diego county.  Hmm, I thought, that's kinda far.  But a good size quake like a 5.8 would be strong enough that I might feel something.  Even if it was slight.  I pulled the van over and stopped.  I felt nothing, but I was in the car.  When I pulled over I pulled over to where an old patron of the library was standing waiting for the bus.  Carlos is his name.  I asked him if he felt anything.  He said no.  We chatted real quick and I was on my way to Montrose.  When I got there I saw that the magnitude was set at 5.1.  Nothing small, but not like a 5.8.  It may not seem that it's going to be much different, but the scale goes up exponentially so each degree is a lot more in magnitude.

back in the saddle again

Krishna was asking me about the bookmobile event on Saturday when she asked about where the bookmobile was.  I told her it was in the yard behind city hall.  She wanted to know if I could move it some time this week to the city lot off Chevy Chase.  I said yes, and in the process of trying to figure out when I just asked her, "What about right now?"  I had the time.  I was running early on the route.  So that's what I did.  Krishna drove me there and I took it to the yard.  Mission accomplished.

my enchiladas

The enchiladas I made came out good.  Spicy, but good.

backyard dinner time

I was feeling hungry after getting home tonight, and dummy me forgot that I didn't go to McDonald's after work.  I quickly warmed up a pupusa from the fridge.  I ate supper in my backyard.

Talia, circa 2005

One of the things I loved about Talia is how she would take her clothes off at the drop of a hat.  This was probably because she had some sort of trauma in her life.  On this day back in 2005 she posed in the front yard of one of her neighbor's abandoned houses.  When I was dating her, there were a bunch of houses on her street that were abandoned.  OK, not abandoned, but unoccupied.  Someone cared for the homes, because they weren't in shambles.  But no one lived there.  This one house had a big set of hedges that were so thick no one could see what we were doing there.  I remember making out in the driveway of that house.  But on this day we went to the Getty and went back to her place.  For some reason we stopped at this house and Talia just took off her clothes.  I may have encouraged her.  Her body was so lovely back then.

Gardens of the World

Tuesday, April, 15, Gardens of the world is something I only recently heard about.  It was on my list of things to do on the weekends.  But, I moved it over to my Tuesday Adventure folder, because I found out the gardens were not too big.  Still, it was good times.  The garden has a nice little picnic area.  If I'm ever in that area again it might be a good idea to have a picnic there.

bacon cheeseburger from Daglas

I haven't been to Daglas burger in many years.  They have one of the best hamburger stand style burgers around.  Since I was out in Thousand Oaks, I figured I would eat somewhere in the Valley.  I ordered up a bacon cheeseburger with a side of onion rings and an orange bang.  It came out to $25!  Nuts!  They gave me a mountain of onion rings, which I'll have to finish in the future.

my coworker put a dent into the side of the delivery van

Wednesday, April, 16, My coworker Tony told me that he put a dent into the side of the delivery van yesterday.  He wanted to know if he had to report such a thing to our supervisor.  Yes, I told him, because what happens when one of the guys in the garage spots it and says something?  Then he looks bad, and like he was trying to cover it up by omission.  I'm not sure if he's going to say anything, but I know I won't say anything about it.  It's a thing that happens to all of us who drive the delivery van.  I think the only person that didn't put some sort of a dent was LunaTik.  And that's mainly because he only drove the van like twenty times before he was fired.

pretty artist

For the last few days I've seen an attractive artist working on a hanging sculpture in the Brand gallery.  I got to talk to her today.  I don't even know why I get my hopes up with any of these ladies.

I was at my last stop of the day, Adams Square, when Krishna wanted to talk to me about bookmobile scheduling.  Next week it's going to be a packed and juggled schedule, because I'm at forty-four hours at this point.  So I have to take official one hour lunches on my route days.  Then on Thursday I'll probably end up leaving Casa early.  While talking about the schedule Krishna half asked why I didn't go out for the bookmobile job.  Since I'm already doing the job.  I told her what I tell everyone... that I didn't think I had a chance to get the job.  I reminded her that I've been passed over multiple times.  She knows about that too, since it's happened to her as well.  A lot of us old timers have been passed over and over again.  I'm not insane, I'm not going to keep applying for jobs I have zero chance of getting.  She also mentioned applying so at least be on "The list."  This mythical list that they keep on for consideration for the next job available for a year if you don't get the job you initially sought.  I've been on that list before, and someone else got the job over me the second time around.  I'm done.  I'll apply for outside jobs, but unless I'm given the knowing wink I won't apply for any other jobs at Glendale ever again.

Cheyenne on our way to dinner

TheGirl mentioned that she really wanted to eat at Don Cuco's tonight.  Let's go!  We got our usual, and our new usual... some carne asada for Cheyenne.  She was loving the carne asada.  It really hit the spot.

We were finishing up dinner when TheGirl noticed that Cheyenne had pooped on her blanket.  She quickly ran her out to the street.  I covered up her poop and picked up her blanket.  Poor thing.  TheGirl says that it's a side effect of Cheyenne's use of steroids for her hind leg pain.

A couple of weeks ago Cheyenne looked really down in the mouth.  Tonight she was bouncing off the walls with energy.  I'm happy to see her move around so much.  It's like when she was younger, and would play with me for fifteen minutes.  Those days are in the past, but she was recreating those days tonight.  To a lesser extent.  It was a good sight to see.

regular chicken nuggets

Thursday, April, 17, Right up the street from Casa Verdugo library is a Ralph's supermarket.  I went over there during my lunch hour to see if they had the regular Tyson chicken nuggets.  They did, but only the family size, which cost $18.  That's fine.  It just sucks that I had to go to three markets in order to get the regular nuggets.

quiet library

I took the picture above a few minutes after 5pm.  There were only four patrons in the library when I took the picture above.  It was like that most of the day.  Since midday for sure.  I'm good with it being this quiet.

flavorless soup

My aunt made some lentil soup the other night.  I had something else for dinner that night, and I went out last night.  Tonight was the first time I had to try the soup.  I had some for dinner tonight, and boy was it flavorless.  It tasted like nothing.  I had to pour a bunch of Tabasco in it for it to have any kind of taste.

my aunt's note to me

Friday, April, 18, I was having trouble with my aunt's prescriptions online last night.  The website suggested that the doctor's office be called.  I didn't want to do it, but I wrote my aunt a note last night before going to bed.  Well, dumb dumb returned my note with a letter saying I don't know what.  It rambles to the point that I gave up on it two sentences in.  She mentions something about a $1,000 charge.  I don't know why my aunt won't get it through her thick skull that she paid for this when she was working.  They took it out of her pay.  This isn't a handout.  ARGH!  I'm so done.

TheGirl's text a year ago today

It was a year ago today that TheGirl told me the devastating news that Cheyenne was diagnosed with cancer.  And yet, here we are a year later and she's still alive.  I said back then that all we could do was enjoy every moment we have with her.  I'm so glad that we have had a year with her.  I wish we could have more years.  I don't know what the future holds, but I'm grateful for the last year.

Mitzi feeding her babies

I didn't take too many pictures of Mitzi today, but I did get a couple of her feeding her babies.  So cute.

picture of Carl's that burned down when I was there in 2016

I'm not even sure why I keep updating this, but the owner of the Carl's Jr. that burned down last week in Monterey says he's going to rebuild.  How a random fast food place staying open fascinates me I don't know.  The food there isn't good, if it's like every other Carl's I've been to lately.  Still, I do have some memories of that place.  It would seem that the last time I was there was on November 24, 2016.  That's nearly a decade ago.  Here's the article from KSBW, channel 8 in Monterey about the rebuilding.

MONTEREY, Calif.

KSBW 8 has learned that a fast-food restaurant that was destroyed by a fire will be rebuilt.

The Monterey City Manager's Office told KSBW 8 that the Carl's Jr. on Lighthouse Avenue will be rebuilt.  They are unsure how long that process will take.

A little more than a week ago a fire burned through the restaurant at around 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Multiple fire agencies from across the Monterey Peninsula responded to the call in less than five minutes.  They reported that heavy smoke initially filled the attic area and quickly spread through the roof.

The 44-year-old building was deemed a total loss, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

I got a text from CVS, which seems to indicate that her prescription has been filled.  I win!  When I got home I made it a point to not engage my aunt on the whole prescription thing.  Because, I don't want to talk to her.  Ever.

eat on us

Saturday, April, 19, I was thinking of what I was going to order for breakfast this morning since last night.  I figured I would get Pollo Loco, but then this morning my aunt came up to me when I was in the kitchen and she tells me that she can't eat chicken because of passover.  Passover!?  Again with this excuse.  Chicken is kosher for Passover, according to the internet.  But, I'm sure her guru told her different.  I think Passover is over tomorrow, or Monday.  It can't happen fast enough.  So my aunt says that she can eat a salad, so I order one from California Chicken Cafe.  But it won't be ready until 11:15am.  Here it was 10:30am, and I was hungry.  So I waited.  The funny thing is, when I picked up my order I saw there was an extra container in it.  It has two pieces of chicken in it with a sticker that says "Eat on us."  How nice.  Of course my aunt won't eat it.  I'll have to eat it.  Dumb.  Just dumb.

What will happen to Pea Soup Andersen's?

I checked on our old friend Pea Soup Andersen's in the news and found out some things.  The following is from an article I found on KSBW's website (the local TV channel in Monterey).  To quote part of the article:

The proposed project at the site "Envisions a mixed-use building with commercial spaces on the ground floor along the street frontages and residential units on the upper floor," reads Buellton's website dedicated to the proposed project.  "The plan includes 125 for-sale condominium units, offering a mix of one-bedroom and one-bedroom-plus-den layouts."  If approved and built, a new art deco-style building at 376 Ave. of Flags will include 6,800 square feet of office space, a 5,734-square-foot gym and a central courtyard split into two spaces.

I hope they do their best to preserve as much of the old Andersen's as possible.  Sometimes it's best to just start all over again, so you don't carry the problems of the past to a new.  Like how the Glendale Central library suffers today due to the fact that they didn't want to build a new building.  However, it is also nice when a historic building is preserved as much as possible.  Because it ties the old with the new.

not sure what's going on here

I found this video on my Treads feed.  I'm not sure exactly what's going on, except for the obvious.  Not sure why the lady has her panties stuffed into her mouth.  In porn I notice a whole thing about ladies tasting themselves.  I watched a porn last night where one girl eats another one out and tells the first girl to taste herself while she's kissing her.  Either way, the girl in the video has a great ass.  It hardly moves when the guy smacks her.

AI girlfriend

An ad came up while I was surfing the web that promised to create an AI girlfriend.  OK, I thought... let's give it a crack.  I think it did a good job.

I moved one of the security cameras to the front fence.  I think this is a better place than the tree, which is subject to movement due to the wind.  Let's see how this works out.

ordered a new computer last night

Monday, April, 21, Last night I was trying to jerk off, but once again I was thwarted by my stupid computer... for the last time.  In my frustration I bought a new Mac Mini.  I added more than the standard memory to this computer.  Mainly because the last Mac Mini I had was always struggling with memory issues.  At least I hope that was the problem.  Either way, I'll have a new computer by the end of the week.  Maybe next week.

new coworker... Mia

I met the new girl at LITS this morning.  She was being shown around by the head of the department.  He literally only supervises one person... Mia.  Before that there was a guy named Geraldo, but he liked to be called Gerry.  Well, he was hardly around, and now he's gone.  The head of the department told me he got himself a full time job.  Ah, yeah.  There's no future for anyone at Glendale.  After I met her I had this picture in my head of her with her legs up in the air and me fucking her.  Wishful thinking by an old man.  But I usually don't get those thoughts when I meet a new girl at work.

the ladies

TheGirl told me that she's taking Cheyenne to the vet tomorrow to check on why Cheyenne has had diarrhea.  TheGirl thinks it's the new steroids that she got from Costco.  They are generic, and the diarrhea started after she got the meds from Costco.  Of course it could be something more sinister.  The anniversary of Cheyenne's cancer diagnosis was last week.  I told TheGirl that we have been lucky to have the last year with Cheyenne.  Hopefully we get a little more time, and that it's quality time for Cheyenne.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Tuesday, April, 22, TheGirl texted me this morning to tell me that Cheyenne is basically OK.  To quote TheGirl's text:

Cheyenne is being put on diarrhea medicine.  Also a B-12 shot and fluid injected into her neck.  She is dehydrated due to the diarrhea.  Also checking for parasites.  Other than that, she's okay.

Whew.  We have been lucky that despite the cancer diagnosis last year Cheyenne has been relatively good.  Certainly she isn't getting any younger.  But, who is?

The Getty center opens up at 10am.  It's only a few minutes away from my house, when it's not rush hour traffic.  I thought I would get to the museum faster if I went on Sepulveda Blvd.  Boy, was I wrong in spades.  I got antsy and went down a side street that I used to take when my aunt worked at this one house for Christmas dinner.  The house was way up in the hills, and I knew that if I got to it I could make myself up to Mulholland Drive.  Well, I never found the house, because I went past the street I was supposed to turn on.  And when I turned around I passed it again.  I started to follow some of the cars going to Sepulveda, thinking that if I followed the right one I might find a way to get to Mulholland.  Wrong.  I ended up right back on Sepulveda.  Granted, it was higher up Sepulveda, but it was still Sepulveda.  All that driving around and I didn't really make any progress.

Getty Center

For this week's Tuesday Adventure I went up to the Getty Center.  There was one exhibition that I really wanted to see called "What They Saw: Historical Photobooks by Women, 1843-1999."  I took my Polaroid camera with me, which had one last color shot in it.  I took another cartridge of black and white film with me.  Because I know that the many angels of the Getty make for interesting pictures.  I got some nice pictures, but some of the Polaroids still have that problem of having blotches or something on the image.  Sometimes it makes for an interesting image, other times not so much.  I think I need to get the camera checked.

cute lady

When I arrived at the plaza there was a beautiful woman standing there.  She had a badge, but it didn't look like she worked there.  I later saw that it said visitor.  Alas, another chance encounter with a beautiful woman for the journal and nothing else.

bookmobile

Working the bookmobile project I have to ask... what's the purpose?  Vagabundo said something the other day that made sense.  He was at CLA a few years ago, and he went into one of the panels pertaining to bookmobiles.  He said that Krishna was in that panel as well.  Then he said that he's pretty sure that is where they got the idea.  He continued to tell me that it would seem that the dopes at the library get mesmerized by something and they don't think it through.  They just want to say, hey... we have a bookmobile, and check off another item that they accomplished.  What they never understand is that getting the program started is the easy part.  Then comes the real work.  Like now, the bookmobile is a bit of a circuitous journey, bouncing from this place to the other.  Not only where it parks, but also in its purpose.  I keep asking that question, but no one wants to tell me.  Because they don't know.  They fucked up the design of the thing, making it too big for its own good.  So it's limited to what it can do.

I want to write a paper on what are the problems and possible solutions to these problems.  It's going to take some time, but I want to somehow leave the bookmobile better than when I started.

plug adapter

Wednesday, April, 23, I was back at the bookmobile today.  On my way back to Central I get a call from Krishna saying that the yard can't charge the back of the bookmobile because they don't have the adapter.  I don't remember there being an adaptor to that plug.  But when I went down to the basement I found it.  I took it with me and went to the yard.  Now we will have power on Saturday.

I forgot to mention that the weather liars said this morning on TV that it will probably rain on Saturday.  I wonder what that means for the event.  On all the fliers I've seen it doesn't say rain or shine.  I guess I'll find out when I get there.

TheLadies after dinner at Wood Ranch

TheGirl took Cheyenne to her Vet the other day, and they prescribed some anti-diarrheal and a B12 shot, because she was dehydrated.  That made her feel better, because tonight she was moving like her old self.

Big difference when she's in pain and when she's not.  I guess that goes for all of us.  At dinner I gave her a bunch of my tri-tip.  We were originally going to go to Isabella's for dinner, but I told TheGirl that we could go next week.

Thursday, April, 24, Because I'm working on Saturday I got to leave work at 2pm today.  I went to the market to get some things for lunch on Saturday.  I'll be in the park, and most likely not have access to a microwave.

I checked a few things online and found out that Nora from Sustainability MIGHT be at the event on Saturday.  I won't get my hopes up.

sandwich that fell on the floor

Friday, April, 25, I went into the fridge to get my stuff for breakfast this morning, and that's when it happened.  I watched my sandwich for Saturday in the park fall right to the floor.  And of course the box opened and the sandwich made contact with the floor.  The filthy floor.  My aunt's shoe prints were all over that area where the sandwich fell.  No way I was going to eat that.  I had to toss it in the bin.  Fucking terrible.  I was looking forward to eating that.

always unlocked

I don't know why these idiots never lock the stupid bike locks on the teen room.  Granted, the fact that they're using stupid bike locks is already pretty stupid.  But every Monday, Wednesday and Friday I go upstairs and every day the bike lock is just looped around the door.  More granted things, this shouldn't even be like this.  The doors to the teen room should have a proper lock.  I fucking hate how sad, and cheep, that bike lock makes that room look.

new floors at Central

Earlier this week there were some workmen stripping the area by the bathroom of the carpet tiles in order to replace them with linoleum tiles.  This is going to make it easier to clean up that area when the bathrooms inevitably flood.

text from Karla

Karla isn't very good at texting back in a timely manor, but at least she does text me back.  Unlike TheNewCute.  I texted her asking her about the county job she had interviewed for last month.  She finally got back to me saying that she did get the job but had to forfeit it.  Like huh?  She later told me that it had to do with her parents.  Again, no details, so I don't know what they did to have her quit.  Ilsa and I often talk about Karla needing to grow a backbone.  County pays pretty well and they have opportunities to move up in the organization.  Oh and benefits that start on day one.  Oh well, she blew it, whatever the reasons.

bookmobile in the rain

Saturday, April, 26, Well, despite the rain I did work at the Earth day in the park event today.  It did rain, but it stopped just as the event was starting.  The sun did eventually come out and make it a beautiful day.  We didn't open up the bookmobile, because of the rain.  And even when the sun came up I didn't open it, because it was just my coworker Michael and I manning our booth.  If I had to go and check books out it would have been bad for Michael to have to man the booth by himself.  We would have needed a third person if I was to man the bookmobile and check books out.

me

There isn't much else to report.  Overall it was a good event.  I did get to see and talk to Nora for like a second.  I talked to a lot of people, and informed them on a great many things about the library.  Many people don't know about all the other little things we check out, like the new telescopes.  These suckers should have offered me the job.  One patron even said that she could tell that I was enthusiastic about the things going on at the library.  In a way I am.  I feel that if we have all these things that people should check them out.  It's sad that the trail kits hardly get checked out.  It's not that they don't get checked out at all, but some of them really don't get checked out because there isn't a demand.  Because the public doesn't even know we have these things.  This is one of the biggest failings of this library system.

There were many attractive ladies at the event.  One in particular was this gorgeous girl that I spotted looking at the booth across from us.  I talked to her about the hiking kit.  Then I told her how the funding of the state park passes was going to end at the end of the year, because she mentioned she likes the pass.  That lead to talking about the assembly person that represents Glendale sponsoring a bill that would make the free state park permanent.  When I was telling her who the representative was, her eyes seemed to light up.  I was hoping it was attraction, but I know it wasn't.  Still, she was beautiful.

For the last couple of weeks I've tried to post my pictures to Diaryland.  I've been using that website for years.  It even used it after a huge crash of the website kept me from posting for weeks.  But, I think it's done for good.  The website is still working, but I haven't been able to post anything to the site in at least two weeks.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong.  Maybe I need to contact the webmaster.  He used to be more hands on, but that was a long time ago.

July 17th is Disneyland's seventieth anniversary.  I have been on the anniversary date a couple of times, but not for a while.  I didn't want to miss this year's festivities, so last night I bought a ticket.  I'll have to take the day off, and it ain't going to be cheep.  But, I hardly ever do anything.

Weirdough pizza - just so so

I nearly forgot to mention that I picked up a pizza from a place in Burbank called Weirdough pizza.  I was on my way home, but first I needed to get something to eat for my aunt and me.  I was going to El Carpintero, but as I drove by I noticed the old King's deli, which closed last year, had a new thing in its place.  I thought it was a sub shop, from the street.  But after parking the car I decided to check it out.  That's when I found out they sold pizza.  It smelled OK in the shop, so I figured why not get us some pizza.  Well, it was just OK pizza.  The lacking was the sauce, which had no taste.  TheGirl later told me that there is usually a line of people outside.  That's OK, I'll pass.  It's not good enough for a return visit.

Monday, April, 28, I was leaving the treasury department when Marie stood up to go on her break.  She told me that she went up to Monterey this weekend.  I thought it was for pleasure, but it was for a conference.  It was a last minute thing.  I told her next time she goes to talk to me, because I've been there a bunch of times.  I do love the peninsula.  I wish I had the money to move up there part time.  I could summer there, in my dreams.  I can just imagine the fun I could have with Marie in Monterey/Carmel.  Sigh.  Oh the food we would eat.

I've had a pain on my right side for nearly two days now.  It's the same pain I got after my fall when I was playing with Cheyenne about two years ago.  It comes and goes.  I will likely tell the doctor about it when I visit in June.

new Mac Mini

I got my new Mac Mini today.  I set it up, but it almost was a disaster when the mouse pointer was flying all over the screen as I was doing the set-up.  I would barely touch it, and it would fly across the screen.  I had the brilliant idea to plug it into a different socket and it worked normally after that.  There are some tweaks that I'll have to figure out as things come up.  Case in point, the computer was showing the notifications from my phone on the desktop.  Nope.  Don't need that on my desktop.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow for my Tuesday Adventure.  I had a crazy idea to go to Santa Barbara and spend the day there and come back around the time I usually come home from work.  I don't tell my aunt about my Tuesday Adventurers at all.  No Way!  I don't want her knowing.  She snoops on me enough.  The security camera in my room caught her looking at the papers on my desk - AGAIN.  The only things I have there are the bill for my health insurance.  Which I have tried to make paperless, with no luck even logging into the site.  The other things are my car registration and something from LA Care saying they want me to poop in a box to detect colon cancer.  I'm never going to trust her enough to leave anything she can speculate about on my desk.  That's the same reason I don't tell her about my Tuesday Adventurers.

throwing food away good food is a sin

Tuesday, April, 29, About two weeks ago I picked up a salad for my aunt at California Chicken Cafe, because it was Passover and she couldn't eat meat.  For some reason, because that's not what is done during Passover.  That day CCC gave me a thigh and a wing in a container that said "Eat on us."  Today I tossed that food... completely untouched by my aunt.  I don't know if she thought it was for me, but she never asked.  Typical dumb move on her part.  She's always doing stupid shit like that.  I think throwing away perfectly good foot is a sin.  So I really hated throwing this food out untouched.

cleaning the bathroom floor

Every morning I go into the bathroom and find a varied assortment of stains and dirt left by my aunt the previous night's visit.  I know it's her mess because at night when I brush my teeth I will clean up the mess she left before I entered.  I leave the floor clean before I go to bed.  I don't know what substance my aunt has on the bottom of her shoes, but it's sticky and carries with it dirt and other things.  My aunt also leaves little wads of paper on the floor.  Again, I know this because I'm constantly cleaning them up.  Time for the eye roll emoji.

Descanso Garden

For my Tuesday Adventure I decided to go to Descanso Gardens.  I had the entire day off, since I'm working on Saturday... again.  I thought about going to Samara Barbara, but that's a haul.  I wanted to chill at home in the late afternoon.  Mission accomplished.  Descanso was nice.  I got a lot of pictures, and got to see a lot of birds.

first jerk-off starlet

The lady above was in the first porn I watched on the new computer.  The video was good, but I bailed on it in favor of another before it was done.  Still, the new Mac Mini is nice.  And so tiny.

espresso

Wednesday, April, 30, I often get sleepy during the day.  Enough that I feel like I might fall asleep while I'm on the route.  For the last two weeks I have bought a small can of espresso.  I pour half of a can in a bottle and drink that.  Today it really helped, because it was around noon and I was feeling the sleepies.  I hate that sleepy feeling.  I suppose I could to sleep earlier.  Nah.

Kellie's work

I finally got to find out the name of the cute artist that was installing a sculpture at the Brand library.  Kellie.

Cheyenne at dinner tonight

TheGirl and I went to Isabella's tonight for dinner.  TheGirl didn't want to give Cheyenne more than half a meatball for dinner tonight.  But, Cheyenne was begging a lot tonight.  Even after dinner we went back to TheGirl's place and Cheyenne ate more food and treats.  Yet, she's still losing weight.  I say give her all the food she can eat.  Her body obviously wants more food.

Wrap-up: Every month flies by these days.  April was a busy month, like all months are busy.  I had some good Tuesday Adventurers, and some good food as well.  I visited the California Botanic Garden, which was super nice.  I really like visiting all these wonderful gardens that I've never been to before.  Tuesdays Adventures rock.  For the good Tuesday Adventures alone I have to give this month a B grade.
