A bit of a Stumble

Afterthoughts : This Past Month

After having one of the best months in years, thanks to last month's McCartney concert, June was a bit of a stumble.  On to the update.

brag tags

Wednesday, June, 1, The Summer reading club is back at San Marino.  It's always drama, but during the last couple of years the children's librarian has done some stuff to streamline things.  One thing is the prizes.  Now they are much easier.  The above are little tags called "Brag tags."  TheNewCute picked these.  I sent her a text message with a picture of the tags.

Cheyenne begging for food

TheGirl and I went to our favorite dinner spot tonight, the Counter.  I now have a favorite burger called the Breakfast burger.  It comes with a Sriracha sauce that's not too spicy, but gives the burger a nice kick of taste.  There was a moment when TheGirl got a little serious and told me that she felt that I was bored by her.  She mentioned that she feels that I often concentrate on the music I'm playing rather than what she is saying.  I didn't expect such a serious talk.  But, she said that she was only able to bring it up since she was feeling tipsy.  Gee, what other things have I been doing wrong?  Our Wednesday night dinners are one of the only things I look forward to during the week.  The days that she has gone away, or when she had her surgery, I was pretty much lost.  I turned off the music and we spoke for the rest of the night.  I think that next week I'll have just some random cool music without lyrics.  I hope that helps.

Thursday, June, 2, I don't have much to report from today.  It was just a regular day on the route.  TheNewCute still hasn't returned to work after her fella caught Covid.

I figured that since June 11th is coming up fast, and that's the day that TheLooker said she wanted to go to the Huntington that I would text her.  The last time I texted her was last month when I went to see McCartney.  She said she was sorry because she was busy with work and school.  OK, that's fine.  But then she didn't text me, and now after texting her yesterday I still haven't gotten a text.  I think this marks the nail in the coffin.  Unless she suddenly says something different, I think I'm on the outs with her.  Oh well.

the many fans of Chevy Chase library

Friday, June, 3, I started out my day knowing that I had to get back to Central by 2:30ish at the latest, because I was supposed to man the phones at 3pm.  But right from jump I was getting emails, text messages and phone calls asking me to do some special tasks.  Mala wanted me to take fans up to Chevy.  OK, I had already gotten two emails about that yesterday.  Then there was this thing about distributing some bookmarks and fliers for the upcoming one book, one city.  Then there was this thing about picking up some booklets from graphics.  I like how people always ask me, "Are you going to graphics?"  Yes... yes...YES!  I don't know why people think that I go to graphics only on certain days.  I tell people that I ALWAYS go to graphics.  Every day.  Well, I should say we go, meaning my coworker Tony and I go.  But anyway, that was my morning.  Once I got started things settled down and I was able to get my tasks done.

back on the desk

I got back around 2:30pm to offload the van and get ready to be on the phones.  But, the boss told me that I was to go on the desk.  So off I went.  I was back on the phones at 4pm.  Nothing much happened except me doing my job.  Around 5pm I got a call from a guy that wanted to know if we had the Los Angeles Times index.  An index is a large bound book of newspapers.  Basically they would take the newspaper from each day and combine it with other editions and make that into a book.  I told him I had to go into the basement to check if we had that.  We agreed that he would call back in fifteen minutes.  I went down to the basement and found no LA Times or NY Times indexes.  I did find the News Press and Ledger, which were the Glendale and Burbank local dailies, respectively.  On my way back to the phones I stopped by the main desk.  There the manager in charge told me that he didn't know how to run the desk, and basically said I should take over.  OK, I said, I'm good with that.  I went to the back and put away my computer and the few items I still had unsorted on my truck.  Done and done.  So for the last hour I was back on the desk.  It was good.  I helped a homeless lady get a library card.  I helped another lady get a study room, because she had problems studying with all the people around her.  It was a good day.  That same lady complimented me for knowing exactly what she needed and helping her with it.  Nice!

Nacho

On a side note, when I walked in after coming back into circulation from the route I noticed that Nacho was standing there talking to Kvon.  He was telling Kvon that tomorrow was his last day, and then shook Kvon's hand.  There goes another one down the tubes.  He wasn't around much anyway, but it's yet another body that we're down.  He said he's moving to Tehachapi where he has a job with the power company.  Good for him.  He certainly wasn't very good at his job here at the library though, but good for him.

not again... and so close to home (click for TV report video)

On my way home I received an alert from one of my crime tracking apps that showed that some one had attacked some nurses and doctors at Encino hospital.  That's the same hospital that my aunt was in last month.  As I drove home I could see the TV helicopters in the distance.  The app was showing the same video over and over again.  Not much information.  When I got home I could hear the sounds of the helicopters in the distance.  It wasn't until something like five hours after the initial attack that the police got into the room that he had barricaded himself in.  All the news stories about attacks always seem so far away.  This one, was right next door.  It was somewhere my aunt had been in.  Where I had visited her.  I'm so numb to all of these horrible things that happen.

Talia, back in 2004

A picture of Talia that I took back in 2004 came up on my photo feed today (see above).  I don't want to always put old pictures on here, but at the same time I think this is one of the earliest pictures I took of Talia.  I really liked her figure back then.

Saturday, June, 4, I was supposed to go to Disneyland today with Emma and her fella.  But, I flaked.  I was just too tired from the long work week.  This despite the fact that it was a short week.  But shortened weeks are often harder on me, because all the work is compacted into fewer days.  I have to find out how much time I have to used my cancelled ticket.  I still have the ticket, but I just cancelled the reservation.

bunny

While I sat in my backyard I heard a noise from my neighbor's yard.  I thought it was their dog, but it turns out that it was the bunny (pictured above).  I noticed that the bunny lives around my neighbor's backyard storage shed.

TheLooker and me on her last day at the library

Sunday, June, 5, TheLooker and I were supposed to be going to the Huntington at the end of the week, this coming Saturday.  It's now less than a week until then.  Have I heard anything from TheLooker since I texted her this past Wednesday?  Nope.  As a friend of mine said, "No one is THAT busy," in response to me telling her that TheLooker mentioned that she hadn't texted me back because she was busy with work and school.

What I always threaten to do, but never go through with it, is to just commit to being alone.  I still have this hope in the back of my mind that says there is a lady out there for me.  But, I'm wrong.  I'm lying to myself to keep hope alive.  But really there is no hope for me when it comes to the ladies.

I've lived the majority of my life alone, as in without a girlfriend.  I think that's how it's just going to be from here till my demise.  I have to remember to not try with women anymore.  It's not worth it.  I need that energy for other things.  Like my photography.  I should really concentrate on that, and nothing else.

job application complete

A friend from the library sent me a link to a job.  She's sent me some others in the past, but nothing looked good.  But, this one from Burbank looked really good.  It's a library assistant job, which is what I'm doing right now at both jobs.  The plus is that it's full time.  FULL TIME!  I need that.  I think the salary is something like $4,000 a month.  That's nice money.  I could pay so many bills faster with that money.  Wish me luck.

my desk at San Marino

Monday, June, 6, Today was another shit show of a day at San Marino.  Not having TheNewCute around for the first time in a year's time sure didn't help.  Officially I'm marked as being at work from 10am to 4pm.  But, this new dope of a city librarian does the "daily huddle" at ten minutes to 10am.  For a while I've been putting 9:45am as my start time, but today I needed to get water upstairs.  So I came down in the middle of the "huddle" and I could tell that the city librarian wasn't happy.  Buuuutt, the good thing is that she isn't confrontational.  Which means I can do what I want.  Well, within reason.  And probably just beyond reason.  I'm very tired of this place.  The first few days of her "reign" the new city librarian was downstairs very hour.  Nearly on the hour.  That only lasted about a month.  Now she's never downstairs.  This is definitely fine by me.  However, things also need to get done, and she is not a good source of information.  I told a coworker today that anything that comes up I keep to myself, because there's no use emailing her or anyone else, for that matter.

important dates

There is a library event, I think that's what you could call it, because it's not really a library program.  The library provides the facilities for something called Brain Aerobics, but they don't sponsor, nor endorses it.  However, the woman that presents it has contributed a nice sum of chance to the library.  She has an avid and loyal following.  I joke that the seniors that attend her class would probably kill us at the library if it meant that her program would remain.  I sorta adopted that group a few years ago when I was tasked with printing out their name tags.  I still do that, though the new regime has asked why I do this for them.  They haven't asked me directly, but instead asked around.  Just ask me, dopes.  Whatever.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is because that group comes in every Monday and Tuesdays.  But, today their seating was not set up.  The guy they charge with setting the room up was at the library and I asked him what happened tot he set up.  He tells me that he was told that that group was no longer meeting.  Oh yes they are, I told him.  I also told him I would help him set up for today's program.  During the set up we talked about how these dopes in the recreation department told him that he was to follow a program called "Civic Plus" for his set ups.  Meanwhile the calendar says something different.  When we went to the community room he told me that he set it up for the children's story time.  Little did he know that the city librarian shit on the program being held in the community room, in favor of the children's area.  OK.  But no one told Dale, the guy that sets up these things.  So he spent his time setting up for something that wasn't even going to be in the community room.  I told him that these dopes never tell anyone anything.

We set up the room for Brain Aerobics, and when we were done I told him that I would ask the lady that runs the program when the current meeting time would stop.  I also told Dale that I would follow up with him and email him.  Later in the day I ran into the city Librarian and told her about the set up misstep.  I told her I was going to follow up with Dale via email.  She told me not to and that she would do it.  Oh sure.  I emailed him anyway.  Not only that, I called him and found out if he had gotten my email.  He did.  He was thankful that I did that for him.  I'm happy to do that for him, or anyone else, because it's not right that these dopes in charge make decisions without telling the people who actually have to execute those changes.  Idiots.

we're back in the ER

When I got home tonight my aunt seemed OK.  But as the night progressed she seemed to be losing it.  The last time I had to take her to the ER was about two months ago.  That night she was not responsive, and sure enough tonight she became non-responsive.  I knew at that moment I had to take her to the ER.  This is the same ER where some dope attacked three people last week.  But I took her there because they treated my aunt so well.  When we got to the ER there was some idiot outside the doors.  I told my aunt to stay in the car, and locked it.  Sure enough, this dope kept lingering around for a while.  The wait for the ER was long.  The lady at the window said that it might be as long as two hours before my aunt saw someone.  Thankfully it wasn't that long.  Just about forty minutes.

Once inside they checked her out, and they pretty much followed the same game plan as the last time she was here.  Of course she was going to stay in the hospital.  At one point in the night the ER doctor was asking me question and I asked him why this seems to keep happening.  He basically told me that it's because my aunt doesn't take her proper dose of her meds.

My aunt is supposed to take 10mg of a certain drug.  But, she bullied her doctor to only prescribe half that.  Because she doesn't want to, "Take too many pills."  Meanwhile, her doctor told her that when she was feeling down that she could take double and even triple the regular dose.  Which means up to 30mg.  But my aunt only takes 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night.  This is assuming she doesn't forget.  That's half of what the doctor wants her to take.  So yes, the ER doctor confirmed what I already knew, that my aunt should be taking double the dose in order for it to be her normal dose.  Because as it is now she's only taking half the dose.

It's all very frustrating.  I was in the ER with her until just a little past 3am.  Because this time she didn't just want to sleep, she wanted to get off the bed.  This meant that I had to keep her from moving off the bed.  For hours I wrestled with her to stay in place.  Of course she didn't know what she was doing, but more than once I became frustrated and just pushed her back into place.  But, she would struggle again and again.  That is until the meds started to kick in and take effect.  Then she just passed out. I got home a little past 3:20am, not sure how I was going to survive work the next day.

TheNewCute got a new employee ID

Tuesday, June, 7, TheNewCute showed me her new employee ID.  She said she wanted to look nice for her photo, because in her original ID picture she looked bad.  So she says.  She points out that her hair was messed up and short, because she was growing it out.  I will say that her new photo does look good.

my aunt in the ICU

After finishing up work I bolted to visit my aunt in the hospital.  When I got there she was still asleep.  She slept through my entire visit.  The nurse said that she was better, but that she most likely had a UTI.  On top of everything else she is fighting an infection.  The nurse said that they wanted to do a test on her heart.  Her heart rate was low, so they wanted to check it to see if there is any damage.  All in all my aunt looked better today.  She's probably going to be in the hospital for a few days at least.  Like last time, but probably a little longer than three days.

"firepit"

Wednesday, June, 8, Today was such a shitshow on the desk.  First I was an email about some random check that was sent into the friends of the library.  Some dummy patron called in to say that her check had not been cashed yet.  Of course that opened up this whole can of worms.  Where is the check, I was asked.  I told them that I hadn't processed it yet, but that it would be soon.  Jeez, these dopes.  I know who the lady that said something is, and she's always causing problems.  So then I had to open up all the envelopes I have with donations looking for this one check from this lady.  I processed it and sent her a thank you letter.  What a dumpster fire.  I never get a chance to process more than a few of these things because I'm on the desk.  And when I'm on the desk I end up having to do clerking duties as well as my reference duties.  I don't get paid enough for this shit.  Fucking hate it.

It's a repeat of several years ago when I was bending over backwards to get all my duties done and instead of being appreciated I was asked if everything was OK with me.  Fucking shit.  I was so through with trying at this job, and here I am trying.  I need to get out of here.  If only the Talia thing was already off the ground.  If only I had that side hustle.

If TheNewCute had not quit I know she would have been able to back me up today.  Alas, she isn't working at San Marino anymore.  Which means I'm on my own.  I tried to fight the good fight today, but with my aunt in the hospital, and me being tired of this place's bullshit, I just barely had it in me to survive work today.  Also, the design I half made for the next fundraiser was pretty much completely rejected by the Foundation board.  It's back to the drawing board.

I finally had some time at the end of my shift to get some more thank you letters processed.  I went ahead and took pictures of all the checks coming in, so I can process them at my own leisure later.  I stuffed the checks into the envelope for the Friend's treasurer.  That will get them off my jock for now.

The reason I have that picture above is that it was a fake fire pit that Pseudo Supervisor brought in to have TheNewCute use it in the decoration of the children's area.  But, she didn't have time to put it out before her last day at work.  So here it stays, in the Foundation office.

my aunt looks better today

I left work early in order to visit my aunt and still have time to go have dinner with TheGirl.  I also didn't want to be at work much longer today.  Today was just too much.  My aunt looked much better than yesterday.  She was actually awake.  I brought her book with me, but I didn't take it up to the room, because I wasn't sure if she was be up for it.  But yes, she wanted to read her book.  I went down to my car and brought up her book and eye glasses.  She was happy with that.

The nurse said that they will keep weaning my aunt off some of her meds in order to test out her heart.  After that we will know how soon she can go home.  I sure hope that the test doesn't show that my aunt has heart damage due to all these illnesses.

TheGirl making faces at dinner

After visiting my aunt I doubled back to Burbank in order to have dinner with TheGirl.  After the week I've had I need a night out with TheGirl and booze.  We went out to the Dog Haus.  I had a corn dog and tots with chili on top.  I was so in the mood for a corn dog.  Oh and wine.  We talked about the sing along that's happening in September at the Bowl.  I tried my best to just talk to TheGirl, since we had that little talk last week.  All in all it was a dinner that we both needed.  TheGirl told me that she's going to Big Bear next Wednesday.  I'll have to find something to eat.

yes, shower

Thursday, June, 9, I got an email today from IKEA.  I opened it and checked it out.  The headline as I read it said "Shower with your guests."  Of course it doesn't say that, but when I opened the email that's how I read it.

municipal services building

I had to walk over to the GTV building from the water and power building.  In between those two buildings is what's called the M.S.B. building, which stands for municipal services building (I don't like that the B stands for building and then people still say MSB building.  So it's the municipal services building building?).  Anyway, I bring that building up because that's where TheLooker works.  Not that I thought I would run into her while walking by, but maybe I did think she would be outside.  But, the reality is that all hope that we are going to go to the Huntington this weekend is gone.  She never responded to the text I sent over a week ago.  I already have my answer.  I'm just being a total idiot hoping that she will still say let's do it.  But now there are other circumstances.  My aunt is likely to still be in the hospital on Saturday.  Aside from that, do I want to hang out with someone that flakes out like this?  I am attracted to TheLooker.  Is that a reason to give her unconditional excuses for ghosting me?  Ilsa suggest that if she does communicate with me that I should tell her I already have other plans.  Knowing me I would probably not do that.  I should.  I won't have to worry about that, I'm 100% sure now that she won't communicate with me.  Not for some time.

I got the news that two more people are leaving the library.  One is Greg, who works at Brand and used to work at CSUN with my old boss Wayne.  That's how I first meet Greg.  He will be missed.  The second is a girl that also works at Brand named Jasmine.  Her I don't know much about.  She wasn't at the library long.  Less than a year.  Also, she worked up in the Brand tower, so I didn't see her much.  In addition to those two last week one of the ladies from Montrose said she was leaving, Ereka.  They're falling like dominos.

my aunt says she's feels really good

I waited all day for the hospital to call me to tell me that my aunt was going to be moved to Sherman Oaks hospital for that heart test.  I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.  The work day was hard today.  I drank a lot during dinner and then after I got home.  My body was feeling it.  And the heat today didn't help.  It was rough.  When I got to the hospital my aunt was looking good.  The nurse, a different one from yesterday, told me the same thing that the nurse yesterday told me.  That they are weaning my aunt off the heart meds in order to have her take the test.  So I guess that answers my question about the test being done today.  I guess we will have to wait a little longer.  I hope.

My aunt did say she felt better today.  But I worry that the fact that she's still on these heart meds means she may have some sort of heart damage.  Poor thing.  My aunt is relatively healthy.  Yes, she's gotten really slow over the last three years.  Yes, she's now been in the hospital about four times in the last three years.  This is messed up.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

yup, this isn't happening

Friday, June, 10, I know I already mentioned this, but of course I have zero hope that TheLooker will magically remember that we were supposed to be going to the Huntington tomorrow.  Now the question is, when will TheLooker actually contact me.  And, what excuse is she going to pull to explain this.  It should be good.

stolen delivery truck

We have a nice big delivery truck that allows me to take more book bins at the same time.  This means a lot to me, because it's cool that I can carry more at the same time.  And this particular truck is really smooth.  So yes, this black truck is awesome, because it makes my job easier.

On Tuesday there was a delivery of paper.  They went upstairs.  Some dope put that delivery on to the really great truck.  And instead of that dope taking the paper off when they took it to admin they just left it all there.  Making my loading of the van yesterday a little harder.  Well, I suspected that perhaps they still had the truck upstairs, and today I went up and sure enough, there it was.  Fucking idiots.  The picture above shows it without the paper, but that's because I took those boxes off.  Funny enough one of the people in admin saw me with the truck downstairs and mentioned that one box had to go to Montrose.  Oh well.  You had since Tuesday to figure that out.  He told me he would bring the box down.  Yeah, cause I ain't going up there again.

pastrami burger for lunch

With all the stuff that has been happening this week I haven't had the energy to get my lunch ready for work.  Also, couple that with the fact that I usually get myself something, like a burger, on Fridays, and you get me ordering a pastrami burger from Troy's.  It really hit the spot.  What REALLY makes the meal is the fact that they have Orange Bang.

sweating like a pig

OMG, today was super hot.  My weather app said it was ninety-one degrees, but that doesn't tell the entire story.  The sun was so hot.  The weather was actually kinda nice when I was under a shade.  But, I don't get that privilege all the time on the route.  The majority of the time I'm in the sun.  And today it baked me up.  The sun rays felt like the heat off a heat lamp.  The picture above was taken at Brand, which is my second to last stop.  You can see just how much I was sweating today.  I was pooped at the end of the day.

door to the ICU

Of course I visited my aunt after work.  She asked me to call her doctor, and the person in the office asked me to get the hospital to send the doctor what they have been treating her for and with.  My aunt looked much better.  The nurse told me that they have totally weaned her off the heart meds.  They said that they will observe her tonight and see if she can have that heart test.  I joke that because it's the weekend that the doctor that is going to do the test is most likely playing golf this weekend, and because of that she won't have the test until Monday.  But, we shall see.  I'm just glad that she's feeling better.

time for dinner

After visiting my aunt I needed to have some dinner.  I thought about several places to eat, but I ended up getting a Happy Meal.  My stomach is feeling a little queasy, to give it a name, these days.  I think it's because I'm worried about my aunt.  The Happy Meal perfectly hit the spot.

I'm almost 100% certain that my aunt come home from the hospital this weekend.  I had a notion to bring Talia over to the house so we can take a shower together.  Oh, and take some pictures for our side hustle.  Oh, and have sex.  If I don't do it this weekend then that means I won't have another opportunity in the future.  What keeps me from asking her over is just that she's a bit of a pill.  I think it's worth it if we can get this side hustle off the ground.  Yeah.

my aunt looks good today

Saturday, June, 11, I woke up around 10:30am and almost immediately I jumped out of bed in order to get ready to visit my aunt.  She supposed to have a test done for her heart.  That will determine how much longer she's going to be staying in the hospital.  But, I will say that she looked better every day.

oh jeez

There's a restaurant up the street named El Mariachi.  I've never been to it.  My aunt says she went there with the family a few years ago when they were visiting us.  She mentioned the food was kinda meh.  I don't plan on going any time soon.  Especially with all the drama that happens around that place.  Last month, or was it two months ago, there was a robbery that stopped all traffic on Ventura Blvd.  There I also see from time to time fights happening outside.  People must get good and smashed and they start wanting to fight.  Like in this case.  As you can see, the headline reads "Person assaulted by three people...."  Oh jeez.  This happens way too often.  Oh, but lately I haven't seen any craziness going on up the street by Van Nuys.  There's a part of Ventura just before Van Nuys that has like three bars, perhaps four, where there used to be a fight a week from the looks of social media.

TheLooker's picture fell last night

Sunday, June, 12, I was drinking last night, and I stayed up late to do it.  There was a point where a picture of TheLooker fell to the ground.  It startled me.  If we couldn't make beautiful love together we could have at least made beautiful photos together.  I'm pretty sure that's not happening.

door to the C.C.U.

Despite my late night I was up and about this morning getting ready to visit my aunt.  I got to the hospital around noon.  I went to the security guard and got my pass to go ahead.  I noticed he didn't call the critical care unit, like the other guards have in the past.  Oh well, I figured it was fine.  When I got to the C.C.U. no one would answer the phone.  I wasn't sure what was going on, but I figured they were busy.  I waited, and waited, and waited.  I sat down and waited.  About every ten minutes I would attempt to call in again.  Once again, no answer.  I did that like four times.  No answer each time.  I watched so many videos on my phone that now the battery had run down.  I figured I could go back to the car, and then go back to the security guard for answers.  When I got back from grabbing my charger I told the guard that no one was answer the door at the C.C.U.  He tells me, "She's not there, she's in 321."  Oh jeez.  I don't remember him telling me that number, but I guess he must have.  Also, that explains why he didn't pick up the phone.  Duh me.

ah... there she is

Having finally oriented myself I went and visited my aunt.  She told me that she had gotten back from her test.  I did see a transport ambulance outside when I first showed up.  So I finally got to see my aunt, nearly an hour after I first arrived.  She told me they had taken her to her test.  She said she had not been given the results of the test, but perhaps later today or tomorrow.  And from that we will know if she's going home Monday or perhaps Tuesday.  She doesn't know yet.  But, she's off the IV and she's looking quite good.  She did me that she did have an infection, and it was getting serious.  This I could tell.

margarita time!

I took advantage of the fact that my aunt is still in the hospital until at least tomorrow evening to do a little day drinking.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Monday, June, 13, I'm so very tired of this "one desk" bullshit at San Marino.  Nothing works as it should.  I'm having to adapt in ways I can, but really shouldn't.  It's just shit.  Shit, shit, shit.  The new city librarian is just terrible.  Her true colors are coming out, and they are not OK by me.  I'm tired of being here.  I'm hanging on by a thread.

My aunt said that they were probably letting her go home today or tomorrow.  It turned out that it was today.  When I arrived to visit she was having dinner.  Her eyes opened wide and she says, "I'm going home today."  And then she tells me to get her clothes.  I went back to the car and picked up her clothes.  We got back home and you could tell that she was super happy to return.  I was happy that she was back as well.  I don't like seeing her in the hospital.  I'm hoping she doesn't have to go back for a LONG time.

hard to read social media post

As I write this I haven't received an official email, but Sarah Mclachlan's official social media posted that she is postponing this weekend's concert until September.  Jeez.

here we go again with this waste of time

Tuesday, June, 14, We had an all staff meeting at Glendale today, and it was completely stupid.  I lost interest in just ten minutes.  They always start these meetings with the so-called "Ice breaker," which is a colossal waste of time.  I really just want to never attend another one of these meetings.  The only good thing is that we do them virtually now, so I can login and walk away.  That way it looks like I'm attending, when I'm actually doing something else.  Win, win!

Last night after taking my aunt home I told her I would go to our local CVS to pick up the meds.  But then I noticed that the address at the bottom of the page was nowhere near my house.  The address was some place in Illinois.  Like what?!  I called the general CVS number and told them what the score was.  After some key tapping on their keyboards they tell that that office is closed for now.  I'll have to call them tomorrow.  It should be easy, they claim, to transfer the prescriptions to my local CVS.  OK.  Sure, I'll call first thing and by the time I'm going home from work I can swing by and pick up the meds.  Done.  Easy.  Done.

Not done, and not easy.  I called that specialty pharmacy they had listed on the hospital paperwork.  They told me that they don't fill prescriptions there.  They transferred me to some other thing, which I can't remember at the moment.  That person told me I could just call my local CVS and have them transfer the prescriptions.  OK.  I called my local CVS.  The lady there was very helpful, but she then told me that the previous location I called had deleted the prescriptions.  I would have to call the hospital again.  I called the hospital and they said I would have to call the doctor's office.  I called the doctor's office service.  About twenty minutes later the service called me back to see if the doctor's office had called me.  Nope.  The service said they would call the office again and have them call me.  I let some time go by before I planned on calling the doctor's office.  I had lunch and stopped at another location, and still no call.  That's when I figured I would call again.  They said they would let the doctor know.  Thankfully the doctor did call pretty soon after that.  He told me he was going to call the pharmacy and give them the prescriptions.

Finally, finally after calling what let like all creation we had our prescriptions.  I picked them up on the way home.  Now, done and done.

In the evening I went into the kitchen and saw that my aunt's pills were still in her pillbox.  I went into her room to say, hey you didn't take your pills.  She thought she had taken them all, and I told her she was incorrect.  This almost surly proves that she isn't properly taking her meds.  That's exactly what I suspected, and sure enough this might be the proof.

no Chan today

Wednesday, June, 15, TheGirl went up to Big Bear today and tomorrow, which means no traditional Wednesday night dinner with her.  I'm on my own.  It also means no Chan either.  Womp womp.  I needed every bit of support today, but I didn't have it.

abandoned reference desk

I say this because this one desk bullshit is really taking its toll on me.  The above is a picture of the abandoned reference desk.  It's such a sad sight.  Years ago when I was but a clerk I wanted to be on the reference desk. I felt that was were I could shine more than on the circulation desk.  Alas, now I'm forced to be on the circulation desk, and I feel out of place.  The tech guys moved me to a new computer in my office, and promised me that whatever computer I logged into at the library all my files and programs would be there.  Lies.  That was Monday.  I figured that it would take some time for the items to populate from the computer to the server.  Yeah, well no.  That promised was a false one.  I'm just done.  The only thing I'm doing now is just standing at the circulation desk and I'm going to use whatever computer is available.  I set up a webpage on my server to have my bookmarks.  If I need something I'll just go to that website.  I should also set up a link to the passwords I'll need to log into these things.  I'm so done with this place.  What I really should do is leave.  Just quit.  But I feel bad for Pseudo supervisor.  I don't want to leave her without help for her fundraiser.  I want to help her out with that, because I enjoy that.  More than anything at San Marino now.  But it's the rest of the things at San Marino that are demoralizing me.  I don't know how long I can hold out.

Last week the city librarian asked me to list all the tasks I do, and how long it takes me to do them.  It's a fucking horrible exercise in control on her part.  Yet another reason why I need to leave this place.  I bend over backwards at this place, but do they appreciate that?  Not at all.  Instead they ask me to list what I do, as if I didn't do anything and they wanted me to justify my job.  This isn't the first time this has been asked of me, and it's sucked every time.  I'm tired of this place.  But then why am I so hesitant to pull the trigger to leave?  I think I'm just chicken.

sopes and a margarita from El Sol

No TheGirl in town doesn't mean I can't find something to eat that's yummy and enjoy myself there.  But, unlike last time when I went to downtown and got my car shanghaied, I decided not to go downtown for tonight's dinner.  I went up to La Cresenta to a place that I thought about going because it was the place it is now.  There used to be a burger joint of the current location of El Sol.  I sat outside and chilled while I looked over the menu.  I found they had sopes and ordered them up with a margarita.  The margarita packed a punch.  It was SO good.  The sopes were really good as well.  The bartender came up and asked if my margarita was good, or did I need it to be stronger.  Stronger?  I asked him if he wanted me to pass out, or what.  I'm a drinker.  I can certainly hold my liquor, so it's nice when booze hits me that good and that fast.  Yes, I didn't have anything in my stomach since lunch.  But still, I was flying high after that first one.  The bartender asked if I wanted another.  Yes, I did.  It was still early, and if I did have a curfew it was still at least a couple of hours away.  I'll mention this place to TheGirl.  Perhaps if we go to any light shows at Descanso gardens we could come up here first.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *
Thursday, June, 16, About a half hour after getting home my aunt comes into my room and tells me that the doctor's office wants to talk to me.  I didn't even hear the home phone ring, but that's because I turned down the volume on the phone next to the kitchen.  None of the calls are ever for me.  But, my aunt had picked it up, because she was in the kitchen.

I went over to the phone and talked to the lady from the doctor's office.  My aunt has her primary and of course a specialist that she goes to for office visits.  She had an appointment to see her endocrinologist on Monday.  The lady on the phone wanted to piggy back an appointment with her primary for the same day.  That's great.  Two birds, one stone.  Buuuutttt, she said the primary would not be available until 2pm.  FUCK ME!  My plan for Monday was to go to the doctor's office around 11am, and get out of there around noon.  Then I would take my aunt home, and maybe eat something small, and pretend to be going to work.  Instead of going to work I was going to go over to Talia's place in WeHo to hopefully have some fun.  Buuuuuttt, noooooo!  If I follow this schedule I would then have to go back to the doctor's office at 2pm for the second appointment.  Fuck me, fuck me, FUCK ME!  All my plans, lay to waste.

I get the doctor's office now saying they want my aunt to go to her other doctor at 2pm on Monday.  Like I said, two birds with one stone.  However, I was planning to be in West Hollywood at Talia's house at 2pm.  But of course something has to ALWAYS FUCKING COME UP that prevents me from doing this.  Fuck you, Universe!

This is what I get for lying about my schedule on Monday.  I told work I wasn't going to be able to come in the entire day, because if I did it down the line and took my aunt to the doctor's as originally planned then I would be free to go into work from 1pm-ish to 4pm.  Three hours?  I'm driving out to San Marino for three hours?  That's not even going to pay for my gasoline.

But going over to Talia's at least heard some promise.  At least it's potential.  Buuuuuutttt, noooooo!  I can't have any happiness.  I can't have anything that is just mine.  I have to always be at the mercy of my own, self imposed, feeling of obligation.  To work, mainly.

My mother worked until the day before she went into the hospital and was diagnosed with stomach cancer.  For months she had been feeling pain in her stomach.  For weeks she had been losing weight and having trouble keeping food down.  She would eat a meal, and the food would not be able to continue down from the stomach to the digestive track, because there was a growing tumor that prevented that from happening.  That meant that whatever food she had would rot inside her stomach and she would vomit it out.  But she worked until the day before she went into the hospital.  Three months later she was dead.  And she not only felt that she had to go into work because of bills, but because she had that kind of work ethic.  One that obligated her to not miss a day of work.  She felt bad for missing a day of work.  She thought she would see the doctor and he would give her some meds and she would go back to work the next day.  Instead he told her she needed to be admitted to the hospital.

I feel the same way.  I HAVE to go into work.  If I don't work, I don't eat.  Here I am, trying to squeeze some time for myself and the whole thing blows up in my face.  Oh, and let's not forget that I still wanted to visit TheGirl after visiting with Talia.  I wanted to stay with Talia until around 3:45pm, in order to have enough time to go through one of the canyon roads to end up on Burbank to visit her for an hour or so.  As has become the Monday tradition.

Even without work it would have been a full day of activity and driving.  And in a moment, it all blew up in my face.  2pm.  The nurse was sympathetic and suggested that perhaps the doctor would do a virtual visit with my aunt online.  Oh thank the maker for that out.  This mean I at least didn't have to drive back to Van Nuys.  It still meant I would have to stick around the house until at least 3pm.  I suppose I can tell TheGirl that I didn't work because it's a holiday on Monday, and jet over to Talia's for some fun.  I just don't know anything anymore.  I suppose I could just reschedule Talia for Sunday.  I don't know anything anymore.

At this point I the doctor thing is set.  What I have to think of is if I want to go to Talia's place at around 3pm and stay there for a few hours and come back home at around 7pm.  Knowing how things may work, something else will block my road.

Disneyland reservations confirmed

Friday, June, 17, Ilsa and I have planned on going to Disneyland.  I went ahead and used my old ticket from the time I was going to go with Emma and bought another ticket for Ilsa.  When I went to make the reservations for the both of us her ticket said it didn't qualify for that date.  ARGH!  I told her I would call Disneyland about this, but it's been a busy week.  Last night I tried going online one more time before calling.  Thankfully the reservation stuck.  We're going to Disneyland in October!  Woo hoo!

pastrami sandwich for lunch today

I was up in admin talking to one of the office guys.  He mentioned some place up in Montrose named Schreiner's, asking me if I had ever been.  Never, I told him, but nearly every day I drive the route up to Montrose I pass that place.  Today I gave it a chance.  I ordered up a pastrami sandwich with some red potato salad.  When I opened the bag I found that the sandwich seemed a little small, but it turned out to be just the right size.  The potato salad was super good.  I will definitely come back and have another sandwich.  The place is actually known for sausages, so I'll have to try them out as well.

it's Greg's last day at the library

I first met Greg many years ago when I went back to CSUN to visit my old boss Wayne.  Greg was working at the old information desk at the Oviatt library, and he and I clicked.  We didn't become the best of friends, but certainly I knew that I like him and that he was one that would understand some of my references that I throw out while talking.  Well, today is his last day at the Glendale library.  He got himself a job with Sony pictures in Culver city.  He'll be working in the mail room, which is a great place to get connections.  He's a personable guy, so he's going to do well.

Talia back in 2005

Saturday, June, 18, Every day my photo feed shows me pictures from the past.  Today there were more pictures of Talia.  This is from way back in 2005.  We were all younger then.  I know that when I first saw Talia I was interested.  I always tell the story about how I met her on the bus.  How the girl she was trying to talk to was too busy with her boyfriend to pay attention to Talia.  How I got off the bus after talking to her and realized I should get her phone number.  How she gave it to me and that began this relationship with her that's was my first significant relationship over twenty years ago.  So much history between us.  I could never make it work with her, or any other woman for that matter.

it takes three people to cover for me

They sent out next week's desk schedule at San Marino.  I'm taking the day off to take my aunt to the doctor.  As you can see from the imagine above, it will take three people to cover my time on the desk.  Ah huh.  I know no one is not replaceable, but this shows just how much heavy lifting I do at that job.

fish taco

My buddy and I haven't hung out since the pandemic started.  That makes it nearly three years since we've hung out.  For today's hang we went to a place called Holbox in University Park.  This is the same location that houses Chichen Itza.  As you can see from the picture above I ordered fish tacos, and they were super yummy.

can you say monkey wrench?

Well, there goes that.  I have been trying to get to Talia's for a while now.  I don't go on my weekends off, mainly because I just don't want to do anything.  I figured since I already took the day off on Monday that I would take advantage of that and go over after taking my aunt to her doctor's appointment.  That was when the original appointment was at 10:40am.  Then the doctor's office called to say they wanted the other doctor to see her as well at 2pm.  That meant I couldn't just go over to Talia's after the first appointment.  Now I would have to go after 3pm.  Less and less time.  Well now he's the newest thing.  She got one of the gardeners that frequent her neighborhood to help take a bunch of cardboard to the recycling center.  As you can see from the text above, she thinks that she'll be home by 5pm now.  Oh sure.  I'm done.  Clearly the Universe doesn't want me to go over there.  This rendezvous I've tried to plan out has had obstacle after obstacle town at it.  Why can't I just go over at around noon, as I originally planned.  NO.  Everything has to get in the way.  First the second doctor's appointment.  Then this whole thing with the cardboard.  I suppose I should just throw in the towel with this one.  Why do I ever try?  Why do I even bother?

apparently TheLooker has a pattern of ghosting me

Monday, June, 20, This latest time that TheLooker has ghosted me is nothing new, apparently.  Memory is fleeting, but last night I was looking to see if I was right about March being the one year anniversary of me getting vaccinated for the first time.  For some reason I thought that it might have been two years.  I thought that can't be possible, because two years ago in March we were just closing everything down due to Covid.  Anyway, I needed confirmation.  I got it, and more.  That's when I saw the above entry about TheLooker not texting me back.  I guess this is some sort of pattern with her.

Look, I know I have almost no chance of being in any sort of relationship with her.  Zero chance of sleeping with her.  Zero chance of kissing her.  I know this.  But a small sliver in my brain thought that there may be a chance since she is the one that initiated some of our encounters.  She's the one that wanted me to take pictures of her.  She's the one that suggested we hang out.  I wanted these things, but I didn't make a peep about them, for fear of showing my hand.

moving my neighbor's jeep

Of course everything has to happen the same day.  My aunt asked the gardeners to cut three pines in the backyard today.  The trees care dying, so she had them cut down.  The gardeners asked my aunt to move the jeep in the front yard, so they wouldn't scratch it, and to make it easier for them to move the debris.  Well, one of my neighbors was home, but the person whose car it is was at work.  Which meant I had to move it.  I got into the car and found myself lost.  First off, it's a stick shift.  Now I learned to drive on a stick, but this thing had two sticks.  A regular size one and a smaller one.  I think the smaller one is for the four wheel drive.  Anyway, I struggled with the key at first.  Once I got the trick of that then came putting it in reverse.  I finally got it into gear and got it moving back.  In a moment I was careening to my plants in the front yard.  I barely got my wits about me fast enough to slam on the brakes.  It was easier moving the car forward.  My aunt wanted me to move it back to the original spot after we got home from the doctor's office, but I was like no way.  No way I'm putting that thing into reverse again.

doctor's office

My aunt and I went to the doctor's to follow up after her most recent visit to the hospital.  Basically the doctor said that he needs to keep an eye out for infections.  But, all in all things are going well for her.  She just needs to keep taking her meds correctly.  And I need to keep on eye out for signs of things going bad.

lovely lady in the market

After the doctor's visit my aunt and I went to the Super King market across the street from the doctor's office to buy some veggies and fruit for my aunt.  I usually don't see any attractive ladies at the Super King.  Today though, there was this woman that seemed like a vision to me.  Maybe I'm super horny, but her butt looked amazing at ten paces.  Looked better the closer I got.  She spoke to me for a brief moment.  Sigh.

looking a lot more open

As I said earlier, the gardeners cut down three trees in the back.  Now it's more open, as you can see above.  No more homes for rats and raccoons.

Talia shined me on for $21

Talia basically ruined my plans to go over to her house to take pictures and take a shower together by choosing to go to recycling right when I told her I was going to go over.  I didn't even mention anything to her today.  She said she would probably arrive home after 5pm, and sure enough a little after 5pm she sends me the following text messages.  As you can see, she made a whopping $21.  She shinned me on for $21.  If we could get this online thing started I think we can make some money posting pictures and videos of her, but she rather fuck around with cardboard.  Oh well.

look at all the food that's going to go to waste

Tuesday, June, 21, Today is the first day of the library lunch program.  I forget the exact end date, but it's either the first of second week in August.  So for the next few weeks I'll have to go pick up the food at Glendale high school and take it to the Grandview and Central branches.

Parcher plaza

On my way from Glendale high school I took Broadway westbound so I could hit San Fernando road and take that up to the Grandview library.  I hit the red light at the corner of Broadway and Glendale, right where the civic center is located.  Out of the right corner of my eye I thought I saw TheLooker prancing around what is called Parcher Plaza.  It's the area between the municipal services building and city hall and the parking structure.  Sure enough, it was TheLooker.  I could tell from her super long hair, which now reaches the small of her back.  Yet another pull the lever moment.

I asked TheNewCute what the totals were for the lunches at Grandview today and she told me that they gave out five lunches out of twenty-five that I delivered.  When I got back to Central I saw that the bags that carried the lunches were ready to go back to the school district.  I know that they have to keep at tally, and that the tally sheet is put inside the bags.  I went to check.  Central gave out twenty-one meals out of the fifty they were given.  Combine the two locations and you have twenty-six out of seventy-five meals given out.  TheNewCute told me that the school across the street from Grandview was also giving out lunches today.  Basically that nullified any meals the library could potentially give out.  But, she added that next week the school would not be giving out lunches.  Maybe the numbers will go up next week.  Knowing how things are they will go up to maybe seven lunches given out next week.  In total the library gave out about 33% of the meals they could have given out.

downpour as viewed from my dash cam

Wednesday, June, 22, On my way to work this morning I got hit by a huge rainstorm right around Eagle Rock.  I mean it came down in buckets for a good couple of minutes.  I noticed that it didn't really rain at home.  My aunt later told me that she felt a few sprinkles, but nothing like what I experienced in Eagle Rock.  Meanwhile in San Marino it was raining most of the morning.  Of course after the rain subsided the humidity made the outside feel horrible.  What is this, Florida?

I feel that my time at the San Marino library is limited.  I don't know if it's days or weeks or months.  I can certainly tell you that it's not going to be years.

When I graduated CSUN I knew I had to find a job.  San Marino was one of the places that actually responded to my job application.  They were the first to hire me out of college.  For that they will always hold a special place in my heart.  The person that hired me back then has been gone for almost as long as I've worked there.  She passed away just two months after I started working at the library.  She gave me a chance.  She was the first to give me a chance.

But... that was a long time ago.  The San Marino library is no longer what it used to be, even just four year ago.  Today it's a shell of what it was back when I was hired.  My time there is limited.  There is going to be a moment when I won't be able to take any more and I'm just going to quit.  I don't want to leave it, because I am invested in the future of that place.  However, there are times when you just have to lick your wounds and be thankful that you are live to fight another day.  That day is coming to me at San Marino.

Cheyenne at dinner tonight

I don't think I could ever love a dog, or for that matter human being, as much as I have come to love Cheyenne.  Our little "family," which includes TheGirl, Cheyenne, Chan and myself are a good little team.  We have good times.

Tonight we went to the Counter for dinner.  TheGirl mentioned that Burbank would be too warm, and that Toluca Lake would be cooler.  Instead of going up to Burbank for dinner we went to the Counter.  I think we have gone to the Counter more than any other place we attend for our Wednesday night dinners.  I always save a little piece of my burger patty for Cheyenne to have at the end of dinner.  I know TheGirl has said that Cheyenne's vet has said that she shouldn't be fed table "scraps" but what can you do when she's begging you for food.

My running joke is that I say, "Oh, you haven't fed her in days," to TheGirl.  I'm sure she hates me saying that, but if you believe Cheyenne she hasn't ever been fed.  I know better, but how can you deny that face a little bit of burger patty?

I checked my work email and found that the city librarian sent out the schedule for next week.  What I also noticed is that I was not scheduled for this coming Sunday.  When I asked for June 19th off about three weeks ago to attend the Sarah McLachlan concert I thought that I had agreed to work June 26th.  I specifically asked if I could "switch" with someone.  The city librarian said yes, and I thought that she said I would be working this weekend.  But then the new schedule says different.  I later texted T from work to ask if she was working this Sunday.  She said she was.  Hmmm, I thought.  I thought I was working this weekend.  T then sent me a screen shot of some master schedule for the coming months.  All the way up to nearly the end of September, and my name only appears once.  On June 19th.  I'm taking this to mean I'm off Sundays again.  If they tell me different I should just quit already.  For now I'm taking it at face value and considering myself free from Sundays again.  Thank the maker.

TheNewCute texted me

Thursday, June, 23, TheNewCute is working at Grandview all this week.  They're having the lunch program until August.  Which means I go to that location first during the route.  Which means less time to talk.  Today she sent me the text above asking if I was driving the route today, because, "I thought I was going to miss you."  Awww.

texts from T

After seeing that I didn't have to work this weekend at San Marino I texted T in order to see if it was true that she was going to be working this weekend.  Sure enough, she said yes.  Then she went on to say the above.  She claims that the old city librarian asked that we close the library earlier, because we're so shot on staff.  The then library director said no.  This is so San Marino now.  That goes to show you that those in charge don't care about the little guy.  I went on to tell T that I am becoming more frustrated every day.  I really want to leave San Marino now.

Today was the third day of the library giving out lunches from the school district.  TheNewCute told me that they gave away eight lunches.  Eight out of twenty-five lunches.  My coworker Tony told me that they were supposedly going to only send Grandview fifteen lunches a day.  But today they gave me twenty-five.  Strange.  Later I checked the bag from Central and the tally sheet said that they gave out twenty-one lunches out of fifty.  Just awful.

it's 12:50am here

Friday, June, 24, When I got home from work yesterday I went to my backyard and at some point I passed out.  I think I napped for nearly an hour.  Naturally I had trouble sleeping last night.  It also didn't help that the heat was still pretty bad even at night.  I drank a nightcap, which became a second and third nightcap.  Now I was feeling good, but I really had to get some sleep.  I think I passed out sometime after 1am.

yeah, it's only temporary

I got a text from T at San Marino saying that she was going to attend a funeral next week on Wednesday and that she needed me to cover part of her shift on the desk.  A few weeks back they changed my off desk time to 2pm from 3pm.  It makes for a long shift, but I don't mind it at this point.  Well, looks like for a day I'm going back to 3pm.  I like that T is trying to convince me to stay at San Marino by saying that these schedule changes are only temporary.  I know that, but they seem pretty permanent when the city doesn't hire anyone.  We've been a skeleton crew for years now.  The city has it in their head to not hire people to do the work.  They rather have fewer people work more and harder.  Hey, I'm done being the sucker.  I was that for too long, and I'm too old for this shit.  You know might only be temporary as well?  Me.

couch at Montrose

I had my lunch at Adams today, because it's super cold in there.  I love it.  Especially in this heat.  I was feeling mighty sleepy when I went up to Chevy after lunch.  I could feel myself swerving the van as I drove the windy roads of the canyon.  When I got to Montrose I went straight to the couch in the back to sleep.  I set myself a half hour alarm and within a little bit I was asleep.  Sure enough, half hour later I woke up and I was feeling much better.  I guess my late night made me extra sleepy today.  Also the heat doesn't help.  It's pretty awful.

donation "gift" bundles

When I got back from the route at Central I brought in some boxes of "donations" and other books that need to go directly into the trash.  That's when I noticed that there were other books on the book truck.  But the funny thing is that whoever donated these books bundled them all up into nice little stacks of books.  A sorta donation gift bundle.  Yeah, well, there all going to the trash.

it's hot today

Saturday, June, 25, Today's high was 93 degrees.  Not the hottest, but it really felt hot in the house today.  I had my A/C on almost the entire day.  I dread the hotter days to come.  If I was a rich bastard I would so Summer in Carmel.

Talia back in 2007

Sunday, June, 26, I know I keep posting pictures of Talia and others looking back at ten, twelve, fifteen or twenty years.  I guess I'm just super nostalgic for the past.  I guess I figure that if nothing works out with any other woman I always have Talia in the wings.

Vaneh is moving on

The above is Vaneh and this is her graduation picture.  I put it up because one, she's nice and curvy.  The other reason is to mention that she is moving on.  Last week she mentioned that she got a full time job up on Lancaster.  She added that she would still work at the library, and then I pointed out that it wouldn't last.  She said it's a long drive down here.  Why would she do that unless she's going to be here for a couple of days.  Granted, as a newly minted nurse she will only be working three days a week.  Or is it four?  I think I remember the nurse at the hospital said she was on for three days and then off for four.  Anyway, it does mean she would have time to still work at the library.  But it's that long commute that might kill that idea.  Time will tell.  Everyone is leaving the library.

Despite it being super hot and humid during the days this last week the nights have been really pleasant.  As I write this I'm sitting in the backyard and it's super nice.  73 degrees, to be exact.  I went ahead and watered the plants, since we are under restrictions.  Even number street addresses can only water on Sundays and Thursdays.  My aunt always waters during the day, the water department suggests watering at night.

I noticed that wearing masks indoors seems to be in the minority these days.  I still wear my mask when I go into stores and restaurants and such.  Oh, and work, I wear my mask at work.

clerks all engaged in passports

Monday, June, 27, What is there to day about today?  Not a hell of a lot.  The route was pretty standard.  But, here are some little things that happened. I was asked to cover more lunches at the branches.  So starting next Thursday I'll be covering lunches at Adams.  And then later in the month I'll cover some more time on the desk on a Tuesday.  I know it's extra money, but the sad thing is that I'm spending more on gasoline and other things. It was hot as blazes today.  I'm glad to hear that the heat is going to lessen later in the week. I noticed that TheNewCute was staring at my lips today when I came up this morning to deliver the school lunches.  It could be nothing, but today I got out of the van and she came out of the back door of the library.  We walked around to the side of the van and talked for about ten minutes.  That's when I noticed that she was staring at my lips.  I mean, it could mean nothing, but I like it to mean something. My supervisor Kvon yelled at one of my other coworkers last week.  The specific thing I heard that he said was, "Shut up."  This I heard from another coworker last week.  Well, today one of the union reps asked me about Kvon, and when she said that the person that was yelled at went to HR than I knew what it was about.  Achee was talking to Kvon, according to another coworker, and it got a little heated. That's when he said shut up.  Not good.  So now Kvon is going to have to have a meeting with the assistant director and possibly HR.  Not good at all.

side gate closed... again

Wednesday, June, 29, At one point in the morning one of the patrons comes in and asks why the side gate is closed.  I just roll my eyes and think about how the new city librarian is supposed to do that.  Whatever.  When I go out to the patio sure enough the gate is closed, but the other path gate is open.  Someone opened that gate, but not the side patio gate.  All I could do was shake my head.  I'm so tired of this shit.

Carrie coworker now a library assistant

The former page Carrie is now a library assistant.  Today I got to see her in action at the so-called reference desk.  She has a lot to learn, but she's good people.  She's also not dumb.  She'll get the hang of this fast.  I think she will, anyway.  In a sense it's not my problem.  I wanted to mentor her on things, but she didn't seem that interested in my help.  That's OK.

the response to my email

While at dinner with TheGirl I told her about the draft email that was sitting in my draft folder.  She told me I should just send it.  Having some booze in me I agreed.  In a short amount of time I got my answer from Kvon (see above).  He was going to add me to Mondays.  Nice!  Bye, San Marino.

Thursday, June, 30, This morning I sent San Marino an email about my new Monday availability.  As of me writing this I have not looked at my email to see the response.  But what is done is done.  I needed to do this for a LONG time.  rom way back in May, when the new city Liberian told us about the stupid one desk model.

Time for July.

Wrap-up: Last month was one of the best months I've had in a long time.  A long time.  I guess it would follow that this month could not live up to that.  Sure enough, it didn't.  This month was not pleasant.  Many things went the wrong way.  My cancelled plans for Disneyland, my aunt getting sick and having to stay in the hospital for a week, and the whole thing with TheLooker ghosting me contributed to make this month a bad one.  I can't give this month anything better than a D grade.  Time for a rebound.
