TheBetter from 2018

Tuesday, November, 1, I'm not sure this if this was the last time I saw TheBetter at Pasadena, but it was certainly one of the last times.  It's a shame that I couldn't even get to talk to her.  She was SO stand-offish whenever I would go to Pasadena and she was there.  I mean it was an active stand-offish mood from her.  She wouldn't even look at me.  Damn.  I had no chance with her, at all.  Oh well, I'll never see her again.

TheLooker at some city Halloween party

I was at Adams when one of my coworkers started looking at pictures from a Halloween party that the city threw at City Hall.  Sure enough, there were a few pictures of TheLooker.  Gee, I guess the theme for this entry is what might have been in my mind, but was never going to be in reality.  Oh well.  Guess I'm just a troll.

the ladies from the treasury department

Here is a picture of the ladies from treasury.  I include it because they are a nice bunch, and Mirian and Araz (far left and far right) are two ladies that EVERY guy around the civic center agreed were gorgeous.  Yes, they turned heads.

Corrie from the Museum of Neon Art

When I got back from the route I saw a lady carrying a big box with something in it.  It turned out to be a work of neon art.  The lady that was carrying was attractive, so I went to help her out.  I knew that she was coming in and bringing that for the Dia de los Muertos celebration this weekend.  I was introduced to her and got to help her take the box upstairs.  When I got home I checked her out online.  She's cute.  But yeah, I have zero chance with her.  This I know going in.

it's a rainy morning at the Brand library

Wednesday, November, 2, The weather liars did say that we might get some rain from midweek on.  Sure enough, it started raining last night.  The rain cleared out the air and this morning it was still raining a little.  Love it.

TheGirl at dinner

TheGirl suggested we go up to Burbank and have dinner at Wood Ranch.  Hey, I'm good with that.  I was craving their food this week anyway.

so-called ultimately sandwich

Knowing that we were going to Wood Ranch tonight I went online to check out some menu items.  I don't want to get expensive stuff at these restaurants anymore, and I figured I would get something good but also relatively inexpensive.  I saw online a sandwich called the Ultimate.  This so-called ultimate sandwich has pulled pork, brisket and kielbasa, along with slaw and cheese and I don't remember what else.  It's a lot.  I knew I wouldn't finish it.  I wish they had smaller portions at these restaurants we visit.  I would love to just have a kid's meal size dinner.  Failing that I picked this because I knew I would have leftovers.

A piece of brisket fell out of my sandwich, which I shared with Cheyenne.  She LOVED it.  The brisket was super tender and yummy.  She's so cute.

TheGirl and family in Florida

Friday, November, 4, TheGirl took off to Florida to visit her brother, who is working out there.  Thankfully she arrived safely.

I left the space heater on low in my room this morning so when I got home I wouldn't walk into an ice box of a room.  But when I got home not only was the space heater on, but my aunt had the back door completely open.  Of course the outside air was cool.  So my room was a little more warm than not, but it could have been warmer.  Also, how much electricity just went flying out the door because my aunt had to open the back door?

It just seems that she has to fuck with every one of my actions.  If I'm chillin outside in the backyard or wherever, she has to come around and talk to me about stupid stuff.  Yesterday she called me while at work to let me know that she called her insurance and they told her to call the hospital.  The hospital told her she could file for financial heartache or something like that to take care of the $3,000 plus bill they sent her last month.  They claim something was out of network and she owes that money to the hospital.  So now they're going to send her some forms to fill out and hopefully they'll lower the amount or make it completely go away.  This is information that I don't need to act upon right away.  It's purely informational.  She could have waited until I got home to tell me this stuff.  ARGH!  See, when she wasn't feeling well she said nothing.  This she tells me about moments after she gets off the phone.  Makes no sense.

I think this altar was the best one

Saturday, November, 5, A few weeks ago Gitmo asked me if I was available to work the Dia de los Muertos event.  I figured why not make some extra money.  I'm glad I went, because it was quite fun.  Here are some pictures of the performers.  The first group is a troop of indigenous dancers.

mariachi singing to me (click for video)

The mariachis were really good.  They mentioned that they were going to sing one more song.  One of the mariachis came down off the stage and started walking right to me.  He asked me if the woman sitting next to me was my wife.  I said no, and he continued with the introduction.  But then he never broke eye contact with me and started singing.  You can see the video.  The lady besides me told me that I turned every color, "Red, orange, green, yellow," she said.

the library latinos

Just before we left for the night we had a picture with those that were left... the latinos of the library.  Sure, it's not all of us, but it's a good group.  The three ladies to my right have been good additions to the entire system.  And of course TheNewCute is in there.  Gitmo says to us, "Pose as if you like that other person."  We laughed, and I placed my hand on Patty's shoulder, to my right.  TheNewCute rested her head on my chest.  Nice.  Tan tan, that's the end of the night.

Sunday, November, 6, So I got my state money today in the mail The so-called "California middle class tax refund."  I'm glad they gave me some of the over $400 I paid in state taxes last year.  So yeah, I'm only breaking close to even with this money.

But, what I didn't win was the lotto... yet.  I went in with my coworkers at Glendale to purchase some tickets last week, but none of them won.  That's OK, I'm thinking millionaire thoughts.  It's gonna happen.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Monday, November, 7, As is the usual now on Mondays I was not assigned to anything.  I ended up just checking in books and answering the phones.  It's easy peezy.

My side quest for today was looking for my fancy bottle that Mala gave me last Christmas.  I had it on Saturday when I was bouncing around taking pictures of the Dia de los Muertos event.  I am pretty sure I didn't take it out of the circulation office, but who knows at this point.  There was a moment that night where I had to use the bathroom, and there was no way I was going to use the public bathroom.  I needed privacy, so I went up to the children's room.  I checked there today.  And Joe's office.  And the kitchen upstairs.  Nothing.  Side quest, fail.

Kvon told me when he arrived at work that he was having a meeting with the city over the incident.  Yes, the final meeting was today.  This meant that this whole thing was finally going to a head.  Well, he left before 3pm for his meeting and came back around 3:30ish.  Well, he was out the door by 3:38pm.  I wasn't going to ask, but I did say "how did it go?"  He just said he didn't want to talk about it, and went out the circulation office door.  A few minutes later Mala sent out an email saying that Kvon was on "Leave" and that she would be supervising us.  No word to how long Kvon is going to be out.  But, detective me went online to the scheduling website and it would seem that he's at least scheduled for next Wednesday.  Crossing my fingers that it's the case.

where's mommy?

A few weeks ago when TheGirl's inner circle went to the haunted hayride TheGirl's friend said we should have dinner together on the Monday I visit, when the week that TheGirl was going to be in Florida.  Well, today is the day.  I had a good time with Cathy (TheGirl's friend).  She's nice.  She said we should do it again, but this can get sorta expensive after a while.  As we left Cheyenne looked back towards the restaurant.  Surly she was looking for TheGirl.  Poor thing.  She misses her mommy.  TheGirl returns Tuesday.  I'm sure she will be super happy when TheGirl comes back.

it's going to rain for sure

Tuesday, November, 8, Last night around 9pm I was already starting to get sleepy.  If I think about it it makes sense since I try to go to bed around 10pm.  And now with the time change 9pm is what used to be 10pm.  I hate having to change the time.  That's another subject.  I woke up early today. I guess it is what it is.  It's given me a jump on the day, at least.

it's election day

I'm not sure where this narrative came from, but the news this morning was saying that there might be lower voter turnout because it's raining.  Please.  Yes, it's raining, but it's not like it's flooding everywhere.  If this little amount of rain keeps dopes from voting then maybe they shouldn't be voting.  Also, I turned in my ballot WEEKS ago.  Two weeks ago at the very least.  But of course there will be a bunch of dopes going to the polls today.  At Central we have a voting center.  You know that place is going to be packed.  Dopes.  It's so easy to vote early these days, but nooooo.

The library has hosted early voting in the auditorium for the last couple of weeks.  We all knew today was going to be the big day where most dopes would show up.  And I do mean dopes.  The poles opened early this morning, 7am.  That meant the side door had to be opened in order to let voters come into the library.  We can't trust them to enter through the main doors, because other patrons would come in as well.  Anyway, I never saw a bigger bunch of dopes trying to even find the fucking doors to the library.  Not that the library helps any.  The bad outside design contributes to their seemingly mindless wandering.  But even after we closed up the side door because we were now open the stupidity continued.  So many dopes saw the closed door and figured they could still exit through it.  Sigh.  My only comment was that if you can't find a door maybe you shouldn't be voting.

Mariam... formally from treasury

I went to treasury today, because my coworker couldn't make it today.  When I got there the new girl, Marie, who has been there for nearly two years, was sitting on the desk to the right.  I thought she was sitting there because Mariam was out on vacation of something.  I commented, "Is Mariam on vacation," and Marie said that she wasn't, but rather that she left for another job.  Oh dang.  I told Tony when I got back to Central and he says, "She never mentioned anything to me about it.  Guess we weren't important enough to inform."  Oh well.  Mariam was gorgeous.  I told Vagabundo about her leaving.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Wednesday, November, 9, I went to take a shower this morning and found that the water was not getting warm after a few moments.  I knew that I had fucked up, because now I was stuck in the shower.  The water would not have enough time to warm up even if I jumped out of the shower and turned on the pilot light.  I should have been smarter and remembered that my aunt went to the doctor yesterday.  That means she must have taken a shower, to not stink for her visit.  That means an hour long shower, that always causes the pilot light to extinguish.  ARGH!  Well, I tried taking the rest of my shower hoping there was still some warm water in the tank.  No luck.  I washed my hair and tired to wash my body but it was too cold.  I only washed my hair, no naughty bits.  I hoped not to smell.  I did catch a whiff during the day.  Fuck me.

the view from Brand

It rained yesterday, so I had to ask the librarian at Brand if he thought I should put the flags up.  We both checked the weather and it said there wasn't going to be any more rain today.  So I went outside and put the flags up.  What a sight to see this morning (see above).  How gorgeous.

Brand library car port

I flew out of Brand to get to Adams Square to cover lunches there.  In my hast I forgot my jacket at Brand.  I thought about just picking it up tomorrow on the route, but I also knew that it was a chilly night, and I was going to dinner with TheGirl.  I had plenty of time to get to her place, and I would be passing that way to get to her place anyway.  I figured it wouldn't take too long to go and get my jacket.

When I got there the light of the sunset really made the library look pretty.  I drove around the back and parked in the handicapped parking and went inside.  When I came out I wanted to take a picture of the arch in the former car port.  I did and a couple of other pictures.  That's when I saw this cute girl walking around.  I went about my picture taking and then I bumped into her.  She told me she was taking pictures.  I told her I was doing the same.  She went on to mention that she worked in the area, but had never come up to the library.  She had decided to come up today.  She was cute, and I talked to her a bit.  She noticed I worked for the city, because I still had my work ID around my neck.  She asked if the door that faces the front was the library entrance.  I told her it used to be, but that now it was around the corner.  I walked her there and took her inside and told her about the library formally being Mr. Brand's house.  I told her the story that I heard about how Mr. Brand had an extension added to the east side of the house.  This was done for tax purposes, so the story goes.  Because supposedly they were assessed by where you, "lay your head," to sleep.  And since the bedroom was in county jurisdiction that means he didn't have to pay the city taxes.  I'm sure there's no truth to that story, but it's a good one.  I wanted to chat up the pretty girl more, but I had a dinner date to keep.

TheGirl and Cheyenne after dinner

TheGirl and I went to dinner at the Smokehouse.  I will spare you many of the details because I want to focus on something I do when I get nice and toasty.  I get emotional about every little thing.  I need to stop doing that.  Booze is good food, but I'm sure TheGirl is sick of watching me tear up at some stupid thing I'm taking about.  I promised myself tonight that I will stop crying like a little bitch at dinner.  Fuck this shit.  If Chan were at the table he would probably tell me to get a pair.  No more crying like a bitch.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Thursday, November, 10, Despite the fact that the new girl will be starting work next week at Adams I am still listed on the schedule to cover lunches there.  Hmmm.  I mean I don't mind covering on Wednesdays, because it means that I make more money.  I guess we'll see if they keep me going on Wednesdays after I work at Brand in the morning.  I would rather just work longer at Brand on Wednesdays, but I guess we shall see.

serves her right

TheNewCute came into Grandview just as I was finishing up my lunch.  We tot to talk a bit.  I hadn't seen her all week.  She was telling me that she was going to work with Grimace today.  I asked why Gitmo didn't try to get the branch closed today.  I asked this because the school across the street was out, and that meant almost no one would be coming into the doors.  Sure enough, almost no one showed up.  But, Grimace being Grimace, and thinking she's in charge, was shooting down TheNewCute's suggestions.  See, TheNewCute was trying to tell Grimace that they should not just shelf read, which is what Gitmo asked them to do, but she wanted to also check in the items to double check them.  Some times items don't get checked in, and since it was a slow day TheNewCute figured it was a good time to look for these books.  Grimace told her not to do it, so TheNewCute just shelf read.  Apparently a homeless guy came in at one point, and as TheNewCute described it, "Destroyed the bathroom."  I'm not sure if that means he shit all over the place, or just trashed it.  Either way, Grimace had to take care of it, since she decided to be in charge.  What a dope.

farewell (click for video)

Friday, November, 11, After a late night I woke up a little later than normal this morning.  When I checked my phone I saw a text message from my buddy Jonathan.  It was a link to a news story.  My eyes were still trying to focus, but when I could read the headline I was taken aback.  The headline read "Kevin Conroy passes away at the age of 66."  How can that be?  Cancer.  Fucking cancer.

Batman the animated series was the best show.  I remember running home after school in order to watch the show.  I recently bought the entire series on blu-ray, because I wanted to have it forever.  Kevin was the quintessential Batman.  He understood that character... both sides of that character... the Bruce Wayne and Batman sides.  Often actors forget that there are two sides to the Batman character.  He understood that Batman is rooted in Bruce Wayne's tragedy.  That knowledge made his Batman portrayal all the more powerful.  For my generation Kevin is THE BEST BATMAN there will ever be.  Thank you for giving us that portrayal.

Here is a quote from an article I found made by Mark Hamill, who worked with Kevin on the series as the voice of the Joker.

"Kevin was a brilliant actor," Hamill said.  "For several generations, he has been the definitive Batman.  It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got the exact right guy for the exact right part, and the world was better for it.  His rhythms and subtleties, tones and delivery - that all also helped inform my performance. He was the ideal partner - it was such a complementary, creative experience.  I couldn't have done it without him. He will always be my Batman."

side walkway

I didn't do anything today but eat and sleep.  I picked up some food, and after eating I went to the backyard with the intention of writing my aunt's letter so that Encino hospital bill will be forgiven.  She has to explain why she should be considered a hardship case.  Well, that was my intention, but I didn't get to writing it.  I was feeling sleepy and I lay down and predictably I fell asleep.

Encino

Saturday, November, 12, I woke up and decided to get some Taco Bell for breakfast.  While on the road I figured I would deposit my check from the San Marino library foundation for my work on the recent fundraiser.  I made $750.  It's good to have that money.

a post-coitus Talia back in 2007

Thursdays back in 2007 was the best day of my week.  I say that because that was the day during the week that Talia would come over to my house and have sex with me.  I only had one class on Thursdays, so I would leave CSUN pretty early in the day.  I don't know how we talked about it, but I somehow convinced Talia to take the long bus ride from Bel Air to Encino in order to have sex with me.  For that entire semester we shared our Thursday afternoons together.  And what was super nice was that she would then walk home and I could just chill out.  Talk about those being the days.  How come I don't have something like that happening these days? The above video was taken after we had done the deed and I guess I wanted to record the moment on video.  Back then I recorded it on my little Canon ELPH camera.  Which had limited video capabilities.  Still, there it is.  The reason why I'm posting this today is because while I was outside in my backyard I got to thinking about a woman that I follow on social media.  That opened a huge cache of old files that I haven't explored in a long time.  They are in my archive, and represent a time about fifteen years ago.  Give or take a couple of years.

Talia in Bel Air

Back in those days Talia used to go into some of the mansions up in Bel Air that were "abandoned."  Meaning no one was living in them.  See, there are people who have so much money they just sit on properties in order to sell them later.  Well, this house was gorgeous, and Talia said we should go up there and take pictures.  Good idea, so we did.  A few times, actually.  Talia was a dream back then.  She was the only girl that was ever interested in me at that time.  I owe her a lot.

circulation

Monday, November, 14, It was another chill day a Circulation today.  Not much going on.  No supervisor to tells us not to play video games.

changes are coming

I received an email from my website provider.  They're no longer going to be in the website hosting business.  They are going to be moving my whole website to another bunch of servers.  At first I was, "Sure, that's fine."  But as I thought about it tonight, perhaps it's time to stop putting this all online.  Perhaps it's time to just have it where it has always been, with me.

No one visits the websites I've created for my photography.  I mean ever.  And this website is pretty much kept a secret.  I can continue making this journal, and storing it on my computer and backing it up online.  But I don't have to worry about hosting it.  I don't have to worry about the cost of such a thing.  I think I need to stop spending what I think is just too much money for websites and domains that do me no good.  No one visits my sites.  I steer people to the sites and yet no one goes.  Why bother then?  I've spent so much money over the years hosting this stuff, and for not.  No one has even gone to my photography website and thought, "I need this guy's pictures hanging on my wall."  No one cares.  I don't update much of the other parts of the website anyway.  I can still share my photos on social media, or set up a special file on my online backup server.  Aside from that I don't need to host this stuff anywhere.  It's aways just been for me.  Someone might stumble upon this some day, but I doubt it.  What will probably happen is I'll just be reading this some faraway day in the future.  I think it's time to get off the web and keep this where it's always been... on my computer, for no one else to see.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Tuesday, November, 15, I guess I couldn't sleep last night, because I woke up at around midnight.  And I mean I wasn't sleepy at all.  I had the thought that I will give up uploading all this to the web.  I've probably spent hundreds of dollars hosting this stuff online for no one to ever read it.  Why should I bother?  As I said in my last post, there's no reason why I should have a photo site that no one ever visits.  If I want to have the domain that I had before then I guess I can buy it after it goes on the market.  If not I can just buy some other domain name.  I'm not married to any of them now.  It's a new era.  I need to stop paying money out for things that I don't use.  I've done that for too long and it needs to stop.  No one is going to miss any of my websites.  I will continue to update this journal, and that's it.  That's what's important.  This is what counts.  I love journaling and I can do much more in the future with this.

So from this point forward I'm not even going to upload pictures or anything after December 31st of this year.  I'm done spending that money.

morning doves

When I got my breakfast this morning I looked out the kitchen window and saw a bunch of mourning doves having breakfast.  They're so cute.  The other day I went to the market and the bird seed that was $7.99 a couple of months ago were $11.99 when I went to the market on Sunday.  That's insane.  I may need to find another source of bird seed.

I went on the library's internal scheduling program and saw that Kvon was slated to come back to work tomorrow, Wednesday.  I couldn't stop the itch, so I went ahead and texted him to say, "See ya tomorrow."  That's when he told me that he wasn't coming back on Wednesday.  Laster I was told that he wasn't on the schedule for the entire week.  Damn.  This is some bullshit.

all the keys

I'm sick and tired of the keys for the different things we do at the library are always put back in the wrong spot.  So today I took the time to take the label maker and label where the keys are supposed to go.  That way we all have the keys where they are supposed to be.  Simple, I know.  Why no one else did it before me is because no one had the initiative to do such things these days.  But I do.

good-bye, Norma

One of the cooler people at the library is Norma.  She's a character, to say the least.  Today was her last day.  While she is technically on the books, she is moving up North to move into her mother's old house.  Her mom passed away last year, if I remember correctly.  Norma is good people.  Mainly because she's honest.  Most people are not honest.  I know I'll miss that at the library.

Chan sitting on top of the lockers at Central

Wednesday, November, 16, I was just starting my day at Brand when I got a call from Mala.  It was 9:01am when she called asking me if I could drive the route today, because Tony was out.  I said I could, and instantly knew that Tony was probably out due to Covid.  I told Misa that I had to be going because Tony had called out sick.  I put up the flag and then got my stuff and made my way to Central.  Chan was in tow, because it's a Wednesday.  I had to leave him in circulation, where I could only hope that he would remain unmolested.  Thankfully people know not to touch hims.  He's safer inside the building than just in the car, but I still worry about hims.

water bottle from another job

As I said, I was told about having to drive after I arrived at Brand this morning.  Last night I had a thought to have some stuff ready for times like this.  I thought to bring my work pants and my shirt.  But I didn't do any of that.  I did have the thought to take the bottle that I got from San Marino with me.  I wanted to have a replacement for the bottle I lost during the Dia de los Muetos celebration.  I never found that bottle.  Someone must have taken it.  But, at least I had this bottle today, so I could take it with me on the route.

the ladies at dinner

TheGirl and I went up to Don Cucos in Burbank.  I as actually craving this today.  But now in hindsight I should have gotten the asada tacos instead of the enchilada.  Still, it hit the spot.

it's a gorgeous day in Montrose

Thursday, November, 17, The weather has been so gorgeous since the weather turned colder.  Today it was not hot and not cold.  It was Goldilocks, just right.  Come next week I will not have to cover lunches at Adams, which means I'll have more time for lunch.  Which means I may be able to go back to having lunch in the park.

It also means some changes on Wednesdays.  For now I work at Brand from 9am to 1pm, and then I go off to Adams for a couple of hours.  I was going on photo missions, that is until Krishna asked me to if I could cover lunches at Adams.  Now that isn't going to be necessary because the new children's librarian has started working at Adams Square.  But, I could ask Brand if they could use me for another hour or two, and make up some of that money.  Or I could just let it ride and go to some photo missions to take some pictures.  I haven't decided what to do.

What I do know, is that I'm loving the weather these days.

these are the dummies I work with

Friday, November, 18, On Tuesday of this week I went ahead and labeled the library keys on the key hooks, so that we could all find them each and every time.  This is because people put keys in random bullshit places and thenI can't find them.  Well, this is who I work with... check out the picture above.  Even with the word empty being there someone went ahead and placed the keys in the wrong spot.  Idiots.

porta potties have arrived

When I left work yesterday the public bathrooms were busted.  I mentioned how they were talking about having porta potties.  Well, as of this morning the bathrooms still don't work, and a couple of porta potties have arrived.  Later in the day more arrived.  The funny thing is that the potties were given a space right by the back door, but whoever delivered them obviously didn't get the note.

good-bye McRib?

Saturday, November, 19, I was thinking that I should get a McRib today for lunch, but it didn't work out.  When I went on the app I found that the McRib was not available.  Dammit!  I ate four of them this month, but after this they may never come back.  Yeah, right.  See ya next year, McRib.

in my thoughts

Every once in a while I go into my archives and I find a picture that I scanned into my computer from my high school yearbook.  This picture comes up once in a while.  It's a picture of a high school classmate that died in a traffic accident due to a drunk driver.  She was fifteen years old when she died.  I was about the same age.  She continues to serve as a cautionary tale... a reminder to cherish every day.

A 15-year-old Tarzana girl died Sunday morning from injuries she suffered in a traffic collision that apparently was caused by a drunk driver, police said.

The accident occurred about 2 a.m. when the driver of a pickup truck reportedly ran a stop sign at Zelzah Avenue and Valley Vista Boulevard in Encino, slamming into the BMW in which the girl was a passenger, said officer Dennis Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim, Sharon Elizabeth Barnett, died about 7:40 a.m. at Medical Center of Tarzana, police said. Her companion, Jason Warner, 19, of Encino, the driver of the BMW, was in serious condition Sunday at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

Stacie

I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but here is a picture of that cute girl that recently started working at Brand.  I know I have little chance with her.  But, perhaps I could still hang out with her.  I guess time will tell.

cute Adams' patron

My time covering lunches at Adams is coming to an end, so I won't be able to see this one cute patron that comes in from time to time.  Sigh.  I helped her out a couple of times, but I didn't get a vibe from her.  I'm clearly not very attractive.

I had planned on buying a turkey dinner from Gelson's market for my aunt and I to have for Thanksgiving.  I asked my aunt if she wanted turkey and she flat out said no.  I knew she didn't like turkey, but I thought maybe she would be OK with it for one day in the year.  My backup plan was to maybe get some pasta, like spaghetti or ziti.  I guess I better find out what I can get sooner than later.

Monday, November, 21, Someone left a can of pinto beans in circulation.  Not sure why.  Someone said that it might be from the Thanksgiving food drive.  But there are no other cans anywhere else.  Hmmm, this makes no sense.  I sent a picture of the can of beans to TheNewCute.  She responded, "I'm really glad that you associate me with beans."  Too funny.

my new work shirt

The other day I went online and bought two new shirts to use for work. I hate wearing that stupid looking t-shirt with that stupid logo.  So I bought some plain shirts.  No more stupid logo on me.  What I really hated the most about the old t-shirt is that it says "Glendale Library" on the back.  There is no way to hide in a crowd with that thing.  Fuck that, and good riddance.

Tuesday, November, 22, The route was pretty chill today.  But while I was driving down from Montrose to the rest of the route I noticed that the passenger side door seemed to be slightly open.  It was rattling.  I didn't have any fear of it opening up while I was on the freeway.  Mainly because it was on the latch, but also because I figured that the outside air pressure would actually push the door in slightly.  Still, it was messed up that I didn't close the door properly.  I was heading down the 2 freeway just before the Mountain street exit when I decided to try to reach over and pull the door in.  No dice.  I tried again and that's when I pulled harder and caused my ring finger on my right hand to be pulled by the door.  It fucking hurt.  And for the rest of the day it was sore.  It still hurts now.  Sucks.

Vagabundo, when he started at the library back in 2014

I hadn't talked to Vagabundo outside of work for a while.  He called tonight to talk.  I didn't want to answer at first, but then I thought I would be quite a bastard if I didn't answer his call.  I got up and called him back, since I figured after all these weeks it must be urgent or he wouldn't be calling me.  Sure enough, after some time he told me that he gave notice at Glendale.  He's starting full time at the County library in San Fernando.  I congratulated him.

I checked on the location where he is going to work, and the place looks like a nice joint.  I'm happy for him, because I could tell he was done with Glendale.  I didn't mention it before, but for a while he would often say that he "Didn't care," about such and such.  I hope he is happier at county.

my street is busy these days

Wednesday, November, 23, My street is pretty busy this morning.  Not only was that now pair of RVs still parked on the street, but this morning CalTrans showed up to clean up the side of the freeway.  They found this pair of RV dopes in their way, but they worked around them.  I really wish these stupid RVs would be gone.  But, I suspect they belong to the dopes that moved into my neighbor's back house.

Brand library

Since my coworker was sick I figured that I was going to drive this short week.  But, when I got to Central I noticed that the book bins were gone.  I asked the room, "What's going on?"  The people there told me that the other driver was there.  I was like, OK bye.  I left and went to the Brand library.  While there I just got to work and told the ladies there, "I guess they forgot to tell me that Tony was back."  Sure enough, no one told me that the other driver was going back today.  Great communication.

Since I had some time before 9am and me starting at Brand I decided to stop by the 99 cent store.  While in line the lady in front of me had about thirty items in her basket.  I was right behind her in line, and when she got up to the register she starts taking things out of her basket.  But some items she looks at and says, "For next time."  She did this for about a dozen items.  And I'm thinking, why the fuck did you even put those items in your cart in the first place?  Idiot.

Little Tokyo

Krishna texted me to ask if I could cover lunches at Adams today.  I went online to check the schedule and noticed that there were three people there.  I rushed over there to Adams and sure enough they said to me, "What are you doing here?"  It's a theme today.  I totally forgot that Krishna had rescinded her request.  I wasn't needed, so I figured I would book it somewhere, but where?  I remember before this whole covering lunches thing started a few weeks ago I was about to start doing photo missions.  But, I only got to do one to Chinatown.  Well, I finally got time to get to taking some photos.

I figured I would go down to Little Tokyo to take some pictures.  I didn't take many, because I ran out of Polaroid film.  I didn't know I was going to have the time, or I would have carried more film with me.  Oh well.  I figure I can now start planning on going on little photo missions before going over to TheGirl's on Wednesdays.

scenes from dinner tonight

Speaking of TheGirl, yesterday I was talking to someone about the fish & chip place in Burbank, and I suggested to TheGirl that we go there for dinner tonight.  But, she asked if I could drive by and see if they had heaters outside.  The forecast did show that it was going to be cool tonight.  I did drive by, and there was no heaters outside.  That meant we had to choose another place.  Sadly the fish & chips place will have to wait for another day.  Perhaps next week.  At the Smokehouse I ordered their yummy Reuben sandwich with steak fries.  Good food, but I was craving that yummy fish & chips.  Soon.

out in my backyard

Thursday, November, 24, You know I don't want to be here next Thanksgiving.  I need to plan a trip somewhere, anywhere.  Because I my aunt is always on me with some stupid question or comment.  And now I come to find out that my cousin is coming over.  I just want to spend my free days alone.  No problems.  But no.  My aunt has to be on me all day long.  She put a blanket on me this afternoon while I napped outside.  Bitch, please.  It's not even cold out.  It was so wonderful out, but she thinks I'm cold.  Dammit, just LEAVE ME ALONE.

yummy food for Thanksgiving dinner

Because my aunt rejected the idea of us eating a turkey dinner I pretty much just put my hands up and gave up on trying to find something for dinner that wasn't fast food.  Here I wanted to have a nice turkey dinner from Gelson's market, with all the trimmings.  But, no.  My aunt shot that idea down.  Mind you, she never gives me any idea what she wants to eat.  She just shoots down my idea.  I really hate when people do that and offer no solutions.  Bullshine.

I think about the years past when I traveled on Thanksgiving and I want to return to that way of life.  I miss traveling up north.  I miss just not being home when my aunt is home nagging me every second.  I really wish she would just stop trying to think she knows what's better for me.  I need to aim for a trip next year at this time.

Sunday, November, 27, Well, it's Sunday night and it's just before 9pm.  Tomorrow I have to go back to work after having the last four days off.  Boy, that saying about time flying when you're having fun is so true.  I had fun not going into work.  But, work will be fine tomorrow.  I have my lunch and clothes ready, and my mask.  I do wish I had another day off, but what would I do with it other than sleep?

I talk about these photo shoots that I want to do.  I have a long list of places I want to go to, but I don't.  I just don't have the positive inertia for it.  I just want to be in my backyard and rest.  That's both good and bad.

dumb

Monday, November, 28, I certainly can't say I've seen everything there is to see... but I can now say that I've seen some idiot doing half-assed push-ups in the middle of a cross walk.  After work I went to Tommy's in Eagle Rock.  As I drove down this street to get to Colorado this fool was doing half-assed push-up in the middle of the cross walk.  Why?  Only he knows.

Griffith Park railroad

For years I would drive by the Eastern end of Griffith park, while traveling on Los Feliz, and would see the lights from the Griffith park railroad and I wanted to go.  Well, I told myself I needed to go this year, since I totally missed out last year.  I invited TheGirl to go this past Friday, but the online sales were sold out.  This told me that the place was going to be packed.  That's why I mentioned going to tonight.  And it worked out perfectly.  TheGirl was happy that I invited her, and so was I.  Perhaps it's time for a new tradition.

there... it's "fixed"

Tuesday, November, 29, The other day there was an email about the front door being broke.  That's not news, since the door has been broken since the library reopen after the renovation.  There is a flaw that means no matter what they do to repair the doors there will always be a fundamental problem with them.  The other day the east side door would. It close.  They had to place a 2x4 in order for it to stay closed.  How sad is that?  Meanwhile the other door, the west door if you will, has its own problems.  The main thing being that it grinds itself.  This is slowly breaking the door.  They have come out to repair it I don't know how many times.  $18 million dollars was spent on the last renovation.

So I get a text from Mala asking if I had time after the route because she wanted to talk to me about scheduling.  I didn't know what it could be, but then since I was at Adams doing nothing I told her I could talk then.  Sure enough within a moment after I sent her the text she was calling the branch.  She told me that with the departure of Vagabundo they would need coverage at Casa for at least a few months.

I talked to Vagabundo tonight and he told me that his last day is at the end of this week.  Which is why I'll be working on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Casa.

won't be working at Brand for a while

Wednesday, November, 30, With the coming of the schedule change it means that I won't be working at Brand on Wednesdays for the foreseeable future.  It's not my last day at Brand, but it's my last day at Brand for a while.  Perhaps three months, perhaps more.  I'm thinking the way that Glendale does things it will be more than three months that I'll have to be on this schedule.  Sadly I also know how things work and it might be that I may not be able to return to working at Brand.  Because someone else was hired and they don't need more any more.  Things happen.  I will apply for the full time job for the library assistant at that branch, so there is still a chance.

flying Chan

TheGirl and I make this joke from time to time that we should flip Chan to figure out where we are going to go to dinner tonight.  I didn't have to flip hims, but on the way out of Brand I had the notion to throw hims up in the air and take a picture to show TheGirl that he had been flipped.

TheGirl and I went to Don Cuco's in Burbank for dinner tonight.  Last time I got the enchiladas, but the tacos are really good and I remembered how good they were.  So I said that Chan flipped heads and that meant Don's for dinner tonight.  It was a nice dinner.  I ordered an enchilada and a taco.  I gave a good portion of the meat to Cheyenne.  She LOVES it.

TheGirl at the wine bar

After dinner we walk around where we are in order to have Cheyenne do her business.  We had an added bonus tonight.  TheGirl said that she came up to this wine bar around the corner from Don's with her friend Cathy.  She said we should go check it out and since the night was young we could have a glass of wine.  So we went up there and sure enough the place is a nice joint.  The wine was tasty, and the place has a nice vibe.  She wants us to come back here next week for dinner.  I'm game.

pretty lady at a wine bar

Wherever you go there's bound to be at least one attractive woman around the vicinity.  Tonight it was the lady at the wine bar.  Jebbers, she had such a gorgeous body.  It was hard not to want to just stare at her body.  I'll definitely like coming back here next week.

Chan with Santa

I took this picture of Chan with the Santa that TheGirl had in her place.  I think it's cute.  Mainly because Chan is cute, and charming.  Merry Christmas!

Wrap-up: We are nearing the end of another year full of adventures and fun.  And to be sure, with a peppering of sadness and laziness.  But the month wasn't bad, so I want to give it a high grade.  But at the same time it wasn't great either.  So I think I'll just split the difference and say that this month deserves a solid B grade.  It's time to countdown to 2023!
