Another Brutal Month
Afterthoughts : This Past Month

Boy, August was a brutal month, to say the least.  But then again, this year has been brutal.  When will we get some relief?  There's no use in waiting for a savor that isn't going to come.  On to the update.

it's hot today

Saturday, August, 1, It's been hot all this week.  As I write this I feel like it's not as hot as yesterday.  TheGirl mentioned that it was supposed to be hotter today.  I wouldn't know, because I don't watch the news these days.  Just too much bad news.

Emma on FaceTime last night

Emma wanted to do a podcast a while back.  We have been talking about it for the last couple of months, and I think that Emma now wants to get it going.  I'm good with that, since I need something to distract me from all the bullshit in life these days.  I want a distraction.  I read an article that points out how many people are being nostalgic these days, due to the fact that we're living through a pandemic.  We can't do things like we used to, so we look back before all this happened and feel comfort.  I see that.  The podcast is something different, and is also a look back to other times when we weren't dealing with a pandemic.  So, it's a natural.  I like talking to Emma.

Johnny Hates Jazz

Yesterday I was coming home and one of the songs that got stuck in my head was Shattered Dreams by Johnny Hates Jazz.  Not sure why, but boy did it hit that sweet spot yesterday and today.

my backyard

Last week Ilsa and I were talking about the movie Casablanca.  We said we should watch it "together" via FaceTime, and tonight was the night we did that.  It was good times.  I was sitting outside in my backyard, because it was much cooler outside.  I suggested that perhaps we should do this every month.  We'll see.

picture from last week's visit to the Sacred Space

Sunday, August, 2, Today felt like yet another pointless Sunday.  I didn't do anything, of course.  I just lay in my bed.  I had no energy to do anything.  As I asked in my last entry, I wonder if I'm depressed.  It would make sense if I was, since all I want to do is lay in bed.  It's hard to say, because it's not like I can do anything except lay in bed all day.  It was hot this weekend, and of course there's no where I can go and feel completely safe.  If I'm not already depressed then I'm sure I'm on my way.

two timer / no timer

I usually want to jerk off during the weekend, but lately stupid me has had too much whiskey.  And instead of doing it two times I've passed out with my dick in my hand.  Not good.

My aunt comes into to my room a lot during my weekends off.  It kinda annoys me.  But I've tried to understand why she comes in for every little thing and I've come to the conclusion that she's lonely.  I'm really the only person that my aunt sees on a regular basis.  She goes to the market or some other store once every two weeks.  But that's not the same as interacting with people.  I have to be more sympathetic to the fact that she is alone most of the week, and that I'm the only one she interacts with.

salad with chicken

Monday, August, 3, I woke up feeling tired and lousy.  My stomach has been acting up since yesterday, and it makes me feel sluggish.  Having the salad my cousin brought me yesterday for lunch today actually hit the spot.  It also seemed to settle my stomach.  I was pretty damn sleepy throughout my work day.  I woke up in time to finish up my video of the week for the library's website.  But boy, was I dozing off prior to waking up.

Justice!

I follow many Victoria Justice social media accounts.  Her official account and many "fan" accounts.  On one of the fan accounts they posted the pictures above of Justice.  She's walking on Woodley, which is where I used to live, and is only a few blocks from my house.  I told my buddy that I'm pretty damn sure that she lives in my neighborhood.  By that I mean in the general area, no more than a mile and a half from me.  I saw a picture she posted a couple of weeks ago that has a building on Ventura blvd that I know as the old Crocker bank building.  That thing is right up the street from me.  Gee, it would be wonderful to run into her.  She's a dream.

object vs body

Tuesday, August, 4, When I get to work I'm supposed to take my temperature so that I can send that information to Mala.  Because this whole temperature thing is just more "security theater."  This morning I noticed that my temperature was really low.  My first attempt showed my temperature to be 90.9.  I think that means I'm dead.  Ha ha!  I noticed the setting on the thermometer was set on "object" rather than "body."  Some dummy switched it.  ARGH.  After I switched it back to the correct setting my temperature read as 97.3.

damn this thing

I saw DrDeath wave at me from the upstairs area on his way to his office.  A little while back he came down to "chat" with me.  He asked me how the route was last week, which is HIGHLY unusual.  Not that he's never asked me how things are going, because he has and that's more basic.  This time he specifically asked about the route.  Hmm, I thought.  Then came the shock to the system.  He asked me if I had taken any photos while on the route on Friday.  Yes, I did, I told him.  My mind went back to Friday of last week when I was talking a picture of this crazy woman wearing a black costume in the heat.  The car besides me seemed to be very animated and interested in me taking that picture.  I thought they had seen the woman as I did, and were laughing.  Little did I know that they thought I was trying to take their picture.  Ah, what?  I told DrDeath about the lady with the costume and how that was what I was taking a picture of, not the ladies in the car besides me.  ARGH!  He tells me, "Well, HR wants to talk to you about it.  I gave them your number, expect a call from them."  OMG!  WHAT?!  Can you believe this shit?  I immediately worried what would happen to me.  Would I be fired?  Would I get some sort of slap on the wrist?  Who knows.  And what about this interview?

Sure enough the HR lady called me and told me she was sending over some paperwork and that she wanted to conduct the interview as soon as possible.  I told her I worked Thursday and Friday this week, and she said that Thursday would be good.  OK.  I had to sign and send her back some paperwork saying that I understood my rights in this matter.  Fucking bullshit.  I'm under the gun.  I don't need to tell you that I was quite restless the rest of the day.

circulation computer

Speaking of the rest of the day, I chugged along and finished the holds for Wednesday.  I didn't rush, and I did a thorough job at getting all the holds, calling the double bookings, and leaving notes for things that needed to have notes.  I did good.

random pretty girl from social media

Wednesday, August, 5, I haven't felt well all week.  I've been going through this week with about 80% energy.  I'm not sure why I feel so sleepy and tired this week.  My eyes are itchy and I feel lousy right now.  I want to go back to sleep.

paid off!

I was paying a couple of bills today when I went on one of my credit cards and saw the I was paid off.  I totally forgot that I had paid this card off.  I still had it in my calendar as to pay.  But there was nothing I had to pay.  Woo hoo!  At the same time I worry that tomorrow my little meeting with HR might go bad if I say the wrong thing.  My biggest worry is that they turn around and tell me that I'm fired.  I could not survive if I was fired.  I didn't get much of an indication from DrDeath, when he was asking me questions about the incident yesterday, about how serious this might be.  Like do I get a mark on my record?  Or do I get some kind of suspension?  Or do I just get fired?  I think that if I was going to get fired they would have already done it.  But what do I know?

scenes from tonight's dinner

I didn't want to tell TheGirl about my whole thing with HR tomorrow, because I felt it would ruin dinner.  Instead I just enjoyed it for what it is... the best day of the week.  We went to the Counter, which is always a good time.  The weather was perfect, and so was the company.  Oh, and the wine.  It was a good time.

the photo in question

Thursday, August, 6, I did my regular duties at work up until the last fifteen minutes before my meeting with the HR lady that was going to question me about the "incident."  I went up to the so-called "History room," because I needed privacy.  The interview went well.  I told the lady my story about the crazy woman wearing a Halloween costume.  The whole thing took about forty minutes, and at the end I did feel good that I got my part of the story out there.  She did ask me for a copy of the picture that I took.  She wanted to see if I had actually taken the picture, I suppose.  I told her I would send it as soon as possible.  And as soon as possible was about fifteen minutes.  The time it took me to go to my car, insert the flash drive from the camera, and then walk back to the library to upload the picture onto an email.  And that is that.  The lady said that a resolution would probably take some time since her boss was not going to be in the office next week.  OK, I thought.  I get to live on pins and needles for over a week.  Just great.

close-up detail of girl dressed as a cat

Here is a close-up of the girl in some sort of cat costume that got me into this predicament.  That day the temperature was something like 94 degrees, I believe.  So yes, it was unusual to see someone in anything black from head to toe.

Homer Badman

My experience with all this reminded me of an episode of The Simpsons called "Homer Badman."  Here's a description I found online.  "After retrieving a piece of candy stuck to a college co-ed's pants, Homer becomes public enemy number one when the co-ed accuses Homer of touching her butt and the media makes Homer out to be a pervert."

Friday, August, 7, I was in the city hall complex when DrDeath called me to tell me that HR had cleared me of any wrongdoing.  I was so happy.  I'm exonerated!  What a tremendous weight off my shoulders.

overhearing pointless meeting

These dopes put Krishna in charge of the curbside pick-up.  Which means that everything will be questioned and talked about over and over again, but with no final resolution.  Krishna was on a meeting that one of my coworkers was watching.  I eavesdropped on the meeting.  Of course it was a shitshow.  Krishna was talking and talking and talking at one point.  It sounded like she was talking to ten minutes straight.  One of my coworkers says to me, "People like that (meaning Krishna) talk a lot in order to cover up the fact that they don't do anything."  Spot on.

screen cap

I was at one of the branches when I logged onto the computer to check some books in.  The browser came up and on the front page was the above image.  Not only was Emma on the page, but so was TheNewCute.  I texted TheNewCute and she just said, "Eww no."  Ha ha!

I'm all over this place (click for full video)

There was an email that my buddy told me to check out in the work email.  Oh man, they're going to have sort of appreciation awards come September.  The video contains some of the footage that I shot a few weeks ago.  I wanted to ask if the footage was OK, but part of me thought who cares.

Silmarillion

Saturday, August, 8, The Silmarillion came up on my photo feed the other day.  Last year I did a little search for her online and found that she doesn't have much of a social media presence.  I'm not even sure why I'm posting her photo here right now.  I guess just to say that I saw her face and I was thinking of her.

Santee Alley, downtown

Sunday, August, 9, This picture was posted on the LAObserved social media feed.  It shows Santee alley in downtown packed with people, and those idiots aren't socially distancing.  This is why we can't get a hold of this.  Someone was talking to me about how we were due for another lock down.  But if we just closed everything down for two weeks we could get through this.  But that's not going to happen.  We're going to continue with this current situation.

my lunch room

Monday, August, 10, My Mondays are pretty chill these days.  I don't really have to do much more than go into work and make a quick little video about something on the library's website.  I'm running out of ideas though, but I'll figure something out.  Mostly I worked on backing up my photos online and some thing I had to do for my aunt.  I did answer a couple of calls, which is good.  But these days it's pretty chill on Mondays.  I like Mondays at work.

a mask for Talia

Talia has been texting me for the last two weeks how she's been playing the lottery, because she wishes to get out of her situation.  What is her situation?  I'm not entirely sure, other than to say that she and her brother are the heirs to a nice chunk of change.  They were left at least four houses, which are pretty much abandoned.  Well, Talia lives at one of the homes, in West Hollywood.  It's not a huge house, but it's nice.  Only she keeps it like a sty.  Suffice to say of course winning the lottery would help her move out of that house and perhaps return to the house in Bel Air.  I seriously doubt it, but what do I know.  I know the lottery is fool's gold.  I told her she should make sexy videos online, but that she needed a mask to remain anonymous.  I didn't buy her the mask, because she first said it was a good idea and then said it wasn't.  Oh well.

Pengo, video game

I was checking out my new favorite website, Archive dot-org.  They have a section where they have old video games emulated online.  I found one of my favorite games, Pengo.  I couldn't get the controls right at first, but then I was able to get which buttons did what.  It was fun to play that game after so long.  I was trying to get the file online to play it on my computer, but I haven't installed that particular emulator.  Which is an emulator for arcade games.  But now I have Pengo whenever I want.

"Helena"

Wednesday, August, 12, I've jerked off every night this week.  Last night I found another stunner of a woman in one of the videos.  I know, I say that every time I write about these ladies.

my backyard this morning

I went to my backyard this morning.  I don't usually do that.  For some reason I had this want to just go out there and take a picture.  It's going to be hot the rest of this week.  I'll probably spend some time in the backyard tomorrow night and the rest of the weekend.  It was so nice to just be out there this morning.  I wish I had the money to redo my backyard to be tiki themed and maybe have a table out there to eat and chill.  Some day.

Digital Library, with me

The library put the above picture on social media yesterday in order to promote my little question and answer sessions.  I've been coming in and haven't had to answer many questions lately.  It makes for a long day at work.  On Mondays I do work on my videos for the week.  But on Wednesdays it's pretty chill.  I basically wait around for lunch time and then do my projects int he afternoon.  Oh well, it's a living during the age of Covid-19.

scenes from tonight's dinner

TheGirl suggested the go to a bar that now has some patio seating in the alley out back.  We've eaten there before, but not since the pandemic started.  It sound like a good idea, but both of us wondered if there would be too many people back there.  On previous dinner nights we've walked by the back alley patio seating and it's been pretty well populated.  In stead of going there we decided to go to this Italian place by Warner Brothers studio.  It's been hit and miss for me, but I figured I would see if they had fettuccine on the menu.  I was craving some fettuccine Alfredo.  Alas, no fettuccine Alfredo on the menu.  That's OK, I ordered the lasagna.  It hit the spot.  After dinner TheGirl suggested walking around a little before going back home.  We walked East and then south to Warner Bros.  The studios isn't just one location, there are production facilities all over that area.  She often walks Cheyenne around that area.  It was nice to walk around.  The weather wasn't super cool, but it wasn't bad.  I took a picture of TheGirl in front of the Warner Bros studio tour building.  They had Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck statues out front.

Covid-19 checker

Thursday, August, 13, What I usually have been doing when I get to work is taking a hand held thermometer and using it to take my temperature.  Then I'm supposed to go online and go to what we colloquially call "thr self-checker," website.  Which is a page on the CDC's website that has a series of questions to determine if you might have Covid-19.  That is all in the past.  Now I, and everyone else, gets to step up to a new machine that takes the temperature and also asks you if you're feeling ill.  Of course it didn't work for me.  I stepped up to the machine and before I could look down at the screen the temperature reading was gone.  I had to do it again.  That second time it didn't read my temperature.  Third time turned out to be the charm.  Meanwhile, the machine at city hall and asks more than one question to determined if someone has Covid-19.  I will also add that the one at Central didn't actually say I was all clear.  It just went to a blank screen.  Of course.  Another fail.

Eagle Rock

I took a wrong turn on my way to the Montrose library today.  Because of that I ended up having to go all the way out to Eagle Rock and turning back.  When I was exiting the freeway I noticed all the tents in the parking lot of a park right off the offramp.  I'm so sad that people have to exist in these conditions.  They're lost.  My friend is like that, and I have almost zero power to help him.  I don't even know how he is these days.  I think the last time we texted or anything was when he asked if I wanted to go out to the park where he was and hang out.  I told him no, because I didn't want to go out under these pandemic circumstances.  I think he got hurt, because he hasn't contacted me since.

my new pictures

I ordered some pictures online last week.  They arrived today and they look great (see above).  Among the pictures I had them print a picture of Chan.  Now he's immortalized.  I also printed a picture of TheLooker and Ani (not shown).  Not going to lie, I'd like to sleep with both of them.  Certainly giving them their photos isn't going to have them want to sleep with me.  However, I would like to photograph them again, and maybe by that sleep with one or both.  I know, I'm terrible.

burger

Friday, August, 14, From time to time on Fridays I will go and buy myself a burger.  I looked at the fridge last night and I didn't crave anything from the leftovers.  Hence me opting for a burger today.  I ordered something called a steakhouse king.  It's because it has BBQ sauce and has those fancy fried onions.  The burger hit the spot.

Rand McNally map of my neighborhood

A social media feed showed a couple of pages of an old Union 76 gas station map made by Rand McNally and sold at Union 76 stations.  On one of the pages they posted was my neighborhood (shown above).  What's funny is that of course my street is there, but the 405 freeway isn't there.  It showed that at least part of it will be completed in 1959.

88 degrees at 10pm?!

It's been hot all day, but as I write this it's a little past 10pm and it's still hot.  As you can see from the picture above, it's 88 degrees at fucking 10pm at night.  That's fucked up.

90 degress at nearly 9pm

Saturday, August, 15, As I write this it's nearly 11pm and the temperature is still hovering over 80 degrees.  It's perfectly awful.  Today was torture.  The heat started early, but it wasn't so bad inside the house.  As the temperature rose outside to over 100 degrees the heat started to penetrate the house until it was hot inside.  That didn't take long.  Now it will "cool" off to the mid 70s tonight.  Not really cooling off, to be sure.  I pretty much slept all day.  The heat simply took all my energy today.

The news is on right now and they predict that the heat will continue for most of the week.  Supposedly Monday it will be in the 90s, but then it will jump up again to over 100 on Tuesday.  I'm going to be working indoors most of the week, but I worry about my aunt's health in this heat.  Today she looked like she was wilting at times.  I kinda want to buy a portable A/C unit for the other side of the house.  My room has a window A/C that I use to cool the room down.  It's not like it gets cold, but it does get cooler.

I pretty much slept all day.  The heat took all my energy away.  That and staying up late last night drinking and jerking off.  I also had this pain in my abdomen, on the left side.  I had the same pain yesterday while I was eating dinner.  Today I got it when I was having lunch.  It is a slight pain, but it does feel a little sharp.  I went online to see what it might be, and of course it could be a lot of things.  I will add that it seems to come on before I have to use the restroom.  As I was writing this I got a little bit of a pain on my side.  I seem to also be really gassy when I get this pain as well.  ARGH!  If It's not one thing it's another.

Yesterday at work there was a moment where I looked as I was leaving and noticed all my coworkers wearing their masks.  It wasn't until this morning where the thought of how this is our new normal.  I never figured we would end up like this.  People that don't believe in masks say that they miss seeing people's full face, and that it's detrimental.  I figured those dopes were just saying that to have some sort of argument against wearing masks.  Today I did think how I do miss people's faces.  But, it's necessary to wear a mask.  I think I can deal with a little less face for the betterment of all.

TheBetter (July 2020 / August 2018)

Sunday, August, 16, I woke up super early this morning, like around 5am.  Of course I went right back to sleep.  I finally got up around 10am and had some breakfast with my aunt.  After breakfast I checked out my photo feed to see what photos come out of the past.  That's when I saw a few pictures of TheBetter from two years ago, when I photographed her in the work room of the Pasadena library.  I remember that I tried talking to her back then, but she literally ignored me.  It's like she knew that I wanted to talk to her, and actively looked away from me the entire time.  Oh well.  Now that the libraries are divorced I'll probably never see her in real life ever again.  Unless I happen upon her when the pandemic ends.  I certainly will never get a chance to talk to her, let alone be a friend or anything.  I checked her social media and found she posted a picture of herself in response to a tweet with the words, "Bigger noses are cute.  You look great."  She does look cute.  Sigh.

robot

I pay this game names Knock'em Out.  In the game the player, me, shoots robots with what looks like a Nerf kind of gun that shoot various size balls.  I put a video here because I found the A.I. comical when it tried to get the robot to stand up.  I had shot its foot out, so it it couldn't stand upright.

Definitely Miami

Earlier this week I was texting Ilsa about random stuff, as per usual.  One of the things I mentioned was the show Miami Vice, because a song featured on one episode came up on a 80s playlist on my music app while on my commute to work.  The song is one named Cry, by the group Godley & Creme.  The song is featured at the end of the Miami Vice episode Definitely Miami (click picture above for the clip).  The clip is such a great example of what made that show so great to me.  There was a certain style to that show for the first three seasons that everyone wanted to emulate.  What I love is how the clip hardly has any dialogue but rather tells the story via visuals.  Love that show.

Portola hotel webcam in Monterey

Monday, August, 17, I was really missing the Monterey peninsula today.  So much that I figured I would use my iPad to view some webcams.  Sigh.  The above is a screen cap of one of the cams I was watching today.  It's from the upper floor of the Portola hotel in Monterey.  The view is of the wharf.  Sigh.  I wish I could travel up there any time I wanted.

city manager announces retirement

The current city manager at Glendale announced her retirement today.  I'm not sure what this all means just yet.  Maybe it was organic.  Maybe she was pushed out.  Maybe she wanted to leave because of what's coming down the pike.  I'll do a little more asking around for more information.

unscheduled guests

After I left for work I noticed on the security cams that someone had arrived in the front yard.  Then I noticed someone was in the living room.  It turned out to be my cousin's husband and a coupe of the kids.  I also noticed that they went to my aunts room and walked away making the "shhh" gesture.  Clearly she had gone back to sleep after I left for work.  The family then went to the backyard and grab some things from a little corner where we keep some wood.  After getting the wood they put in the back of their truck and went back home.  About twenty minutes after they left my aunt woke up and seemed to notice that somebody had been in the house.  I told her when I got home that the family had come over.

this sign is good enough

The Friends of the Library are having a book sale this Friday.  They have gone nuts over the preparations.  They want me to print out a poster with some thing.  That's easy.  I already made the poster.  I just need to print it out.  But then they were asking for extra tables.  I figured that wasn't so bad.  But when I asked my contact with the city they were asking why did we need more tables than the ones you already have?  I was like, hey, the friends want them so they don't mess up the nice tables we have at the library.  Then the contact said they would have to ask the lady who is in charge of the library/recreation department right now.  Really?  I mean, really?  I almost wanted to tell her to just forget it.  I then talked to the ladies that were going to help them.  This included LaFlor and P.  They both said they had everything worked out with Becks before she left on maternity leave.  I know that, but of course the friends were asking for more stuff.  I told them to just go with their guts.  I will have their posters ready for them and that's that.  I can't wait for this sale to be in the rear view mirror.

fish sandwich for dinner, hit the spot

Last week I went to Arby's for dinner after work at San Marino.  The sandwich I ate was pretty good, so I decided to give them another shot tonight.  I noticed on their website that they had a limited time offer of a fish sandwich.  I tried it out and boy did it hit the spot.  It was really good.  The fish was fried really well.  And the fish itself was really flaky.  And it had a good bun and nice tartar sauce.  In my book it was a hit.

Disneyland's Peoplemover video from 1990

I downloaded this video a couple of weeks ago, because I wanted to have it in my archives.  The video is of the now closed attraction, the Peoplemover at Disneyland.  It used to be one of my favorite attractions.  They closed it so many years ago now.  I think about twenty years ago, and replaced it with an attraction that didn't last more than a couple of years.  There is talk from time to time that they will either destroy the track or redo the attraction.  Disneyland does neither.  So the poor track just sits there, rotting away.  So sad.  I wish they would fix it up again and bring it back to something close to what it used to be.  I always wanted to kiss a girl on that ride.  It was so perfect of it.  Like a tunnel of love, in certain places, since it went into darkness.  Alas, never happened.

there's an orange cast to the sky due to the fires

Tuesday, August, 18, Here is a picture of my street as I drove to work this morning.  Notice the orange cast to everything.  It's from the fires.  It just adds to the horrible temperatures we've been experiencing this week.

I'm appreciated

I went upstairs to administration to check on the area.  The alarm was trigged last night, so they wanted me to check out everything.  When I went upstairs I went into the kitchen there and I noticed some snacks on the table.  Next to that was a note (see above) that reminded me that I'm appreciated.  I better be appreciated.  Ha ha!  I wonder if I'll be this appreciated when I ask for a raise later this year.  Ha!

oh jeez, they can't get anything right

We've been doing this curbside stuff for nearly four months now.  And yet, despite that fact these morons STILL can't get the orientation of the slips correct.  Here are two slips that were printed two days apart.  These morons still can't get the orientation correction.  Fucking idiots.  I won't mention it to anyone, because I'm tired of saying something and having them not do anything about it.  It's just a waste of breath.

only two books on the table for tomorrow

While grabbing the books today I noticed one patron had about twenty books waiting for them.  When I checked on the table for tomorrow's curbside there were only two books.  OK.  Where are the rest?

but all these were still on the shelf

When I checked the shelf of course the rest of the books were there.  Which makes me wonder how the person that picked up those two books missed the other eighteen.  Fucking lazy fucks.

coins

Wednesday, August, 19, On top of everything else there's a coin shortage.  The news says it's because people aren't going out, and that means the coins aren't circulating.  Makes sense.  It also probably hurts that I have a ton of coins in jars.  I'm sure a lot of people do.  Today I decided to get some things done.  One of them being exchanging those coins for paper money.  I actually went ahead and got an Amazon gift card, because that way I don't have to pay the fee for counting the coins.  I did pretty well.  I got $99.11.  Not too bad.

TheNewCute

TheNewCute and I were texting each other today while she was at Glendale doing the curbside service.  At one point she sent me the above picture.  I wish it was without her mask, but she's still damn cute.

posters ready for Friday's book sale

Today I was busy at work.  I had to do something for Pseudo supervisor, and also print out some posters for the book sale on Friday.  I liked being busy at work.  It's way better than having nothing to do.  For sure.

TheGirl at dinner

For dinner TheGirl and I went to our usual burger joint.  The twist today was that we had each other's burgers for dinner.  She usually gets something called a Chipotle turkey burger, and I often get one called the Old School burger.  So she decided to have my old school burger, but with the turkey patty, and I had her chipotle burger but with a beef patty.  I must say that her burger really hit the spot.  I'm definitely going to have her burger with a beef patty again.  The rest of the night was nice.  We did our little walk after dinner to give Cheyenne a chance to do walkies.  She gets some yummy table treats.  Which I know, is not a good thing.  But she's so cute.  Another successful Wednesday night dinner.

there's quite a bit of smoke in the air

Thursday, August, 20, The weather was actually nice last night.  Nevertheless, the smoke from the fires was still making the sky orange this morning (as seen above).  On top of everything else, we have these fires to deal with.  This really is the fucking worst year... yet.

roll call?  I'm rolling my eyes

When we started this safer at home stuff that kept everyone at home, we that were still going into the library had to sign in, because there were so few of us going in.  The need to sign in was practical, because if someone is downstairs they don't know if someone is upstairs, and vice versa.  This was the original reason for having the sign in board.  Now, Krishna has taken the idea of the board and bastardized it.  Now it's just a general check in board.  When there are a dozen people in the library it's easier to keep tabs of where they are.  Because we're all over the library.  But of course Krishna fails to understand why the board was used in the first place.  Dummies.

broken window

I was told on Tuesday that one of the windows at Grandview had been broken.  When I arrived I finally got to see the damage for myself.  Sure enough, there was a softball sized hole in the side window.  It could be someone threw something, like a ball, into the library.  But from what I understand, no one saw a ball.  Bundy thinks it was a bee bee gun pellet.  The hole seems to be too big for that, but who knows.  I thought it might be a ball.  Who knows.

what is known as a contact sheet

I was texting TheNewCute tonight when I remembered how I mentioned I was going to scan some of my high school photos for that interview I did with Emma for the library.  I went and got a ladder and got the old photos from a box I keep in my closet.  I scanned an old contact sheet.  Once I saw the pictures I noticed that they were from an assignment called "People."  Most of the pictures were taken at the old Sherman Oaks Galleria.

Friday, August, 21, Today work was pretty chill.  I wish I could say that for the weather, because it was back to being hot.  Last night it was so nice, but it looks like the daytime heat is back to being horrible and humid.  ARGH!

I was at Montrose when one of the maintenance guys came in to take his break.  In talking to him I happened to ask about the window at Grandview, to see if he knew anything.  Sure enough he told me that someone threw a padlock through the window.  A freaking padlock.  Wow!

I bought a new pillow

Saturday, August, 22, I bought a new pillow earlier this week, because I was sick and tired of my old pillow.  The new pillow has a way of adjusting the softness or firmness, whatever.  I slept like a baby last night, and I didn't wake up with my typical shoulder pain.  Score!

I actually didn't sleep during the day, like I usually do on Saturdays.  I wonder if that's because of my new pillow.  Or because of the damn heat.  Hmm

post coitus Talia, circa 2006

This picture of Talia came up on my feed today.  She and I have been texting this week.  She says she wants to marry me.  The photo was from back when we were sleeping together.  I do miss sex, that's for sure.

Sunday breakfast

Sunday, August, 23, The usual pattern on weekends is for me to have breakfast with my aunt and almost immediately feel completely sleepy.  So much so that I go to bed and within minutes I'm taking a nap.  This morning I ate and retired to my room.  But, thankfully I didn't feel like I wanted to go to sleep immediately.  I'm wondering if it's because of my new comfy pillow.  Of course it could be other factors, but today I can report that I didn't feel completely exhausted after eating breakfast.  I do hope it's because of my new pillow.  I really hate it how any meal immediately makes me super sleepy.  Typically, as I write this paragraph I'm watching a video on YouTube and it made me sleepy.  I think it's just a boring video.

tweet

The First Lady unveiled the newly redone White House rose garden, and frankly it's kinda blah.  Maybe the roses need time to grow in, but at the same time the image show that there is far less color to the garden.  Oh well.  It's just typical of this Presidency that it came out shitty.

TheGirl and Cheyenne in San Diego

TheGirl went down to San Diego with her daughter and Cheyenne.  It looked like she had a good time.  Makes me wonder why I'm still stuck here at home on the weekends.  But, at the same time I don't want to chance getting something.

Cheyenne

TheGirl sent me a picture of Cheyenne sleeping.  I do love that dog.  I never want anything bad to happen to her.  I never thought I could love a dog as much as I love Cheyenne.

Talia from 2003

Monday, August, 24, A picture of Talia came up on my photo feed today from WAY back in 2003.  On this day way back when I took her photo for the first time.  That was also the first night that I kissed her.  Well, officially she kissed me first.  And then she took her pants off and directed me to finger her.  I didn't have a condom with me that night, so we didn't have full on sex.  But, it was a magical night.  I wish more girls would let me know how they feel about me the way that Talia did that night.

the library is a cooling center... but no one is coming

The San Marino library is a cooling center.  To my knowledge no one has come in to "get cool."  I'm pretty sure no one will come in.  One, they probably don't know about it.  Two, as my buddy pointed out, everyone in that town is rich enough that their house have super cold air conditioning.  So yeah, I'm not sure who this cooling center is for.  Certainly no one from the city.

new giant printer

Last week the city librarian sent me an email with a picture of the new giant printer.  Huh, I thought.  When did this happen?  I have no idea why they replaced the old printer.  But, now we have this printer.  Oh well.  Whatever.

I paid $11 for this thing

I'm trying to eat different things after work on Mondays, and before going over to TheGirl's to visit her.  Last week I ate at Arby's again, and that fish sandwich really hit the spot.  Today I wanted to have a Wendy's burger.  In searching for one near work I noticed there was one in Pasadena.  But the maps app showed that it was just some nondescript building.  I figured I would figure it out when I got there.  What I didn't realize is that it was a nondescript building that housed many restaurants.  Well, their kitchens.  There's no dining in, just take out.  But they have like a dozen different eateries.  I think I might try others.  The burger I ordered was a wee bit expensive.  I know I ordered it with avocado, but it still ended up being $11 for a burger.  That's insane.  If I'm going to pay that much I might just order a better burger from one of the other restaurants.

time for booze (click for video)

I was watching some MST3K shorts, and this one came up called Hired.  The character on screen is trying to sell cars.  I guess door to door.  But what's funny is how he's doing a terrible job, and then that's when one of the bots (Crow) mentions that it's time for booze.  Amen.

nothing but mistakes here

Tuesday, August, 25, The hold shelf is just like any other shelf in the library, in that it's supposed to be arranged by alphabetical order.  Supposed to be, but of course these dummies don't know their alphabet.  Because, if they did they wouldn't make the mistakes that I constantly see when I'm pulling the holds.  The above is just ONE example of many today where the patrons last name means nothing to the order of the books.  It may be hard to see, but the books go from "Moon," to "Moore," to "Monares," to "Monestime," then to "Montes," followed by, "Montoya," and then back to "Moore" again.  What a fucking bunch of idiots.  I would say something to Mala, but I honestly don't care.  The fucking procedures are nothing but a mess.

TheRose (click for video)

TheRose posted a video on social media.  I wish I had a chance with her.  She's so attractive.  Emma let me know one day a few months ago that I kinda creeped TheRose out when I gave her a gift.  I think part of it was the ladies telling her that I must like her, hence the book.  And yes, I did like her.  Yes, I did want to sleep with her.  I want to think that she took it as innocent before her coworkers poisoned the well, so to speak.  Oh well.

* * * * * *  * * * * * *  * * * * * *

Wednesday, August, 26, I didn't have much to do today at work.  I decided that I should make the videos for Wednesday on Wednesdays, basically a week before, rather than on Mondays.  But, today I was lazy and I didn't do anything.  At one point the head librarian asked me to cover the reference desk on Mondays, since Becks is out on maternity leave.  I can do that.  I'll have something to do now.  It's a good thing, since I have to show my worth with the possibility of cuts to hours coming up.  I don't have any concrete information about that, but with the city being jerks I can't imagine that they won't make cuts later in the year. Speaking of city news, the council took up the idea of opening the library up to passport appointments.  Of course they voted for it.  Talk about a HUGE risk.  I'm glad I'm not certified for passport processing.  Ilsa already told me that she told the circulation manager that she doesn't want to do it.  No one will want to do it.  It's too risky.

scenes from dinner tonight

TheGirl suggested that we go to the Smokehouse without Cheyenne tonight.  Poor thing.  I had a Reuben and TheGirl ordered fish & chips.  They did look good.  I also had a yummy lemon drop for my cocktail.  Woo!  When we got back to TheGirl's place Cheyenne was SUPER excited to see us.  Poor thing.  I really don't like leaving her at home.  Not to make myself look so great, but she does seem to get a kick out of seeing me.

treated myself to Chipotle for lunch today

Thursday, August, 27, I only had Mac & cheese and raviolis at home for lunch.  Because of that I figured I would just pick up a burger.  I ended up getting Chipotle instead.  It's been a long time, and it REALLY hit the spot.  Thank the maker.  After lunch I just chilled and didn't rush out to continue the route.  One good thing is that since I got my new pillow I don't feel as sleepy after having lunch.  Not to say I'm not at all.  Yesterday and today I felt a little sleepy, but I didn't just fall asleep like in the past.

The weather started out kinda cool this morning, but by the time I left Montrose after lunch the heat was baking me.  ARGH, it was awful.  When I got to Brand I took some extra time there, because the A/C was working.  It helped me cool off.  I thought the weather was getting better.  Wrong.

sleepy Cheyenne

TheGirl sent me a text message with a picture of Cheyenne sleeping on her couch (see above).  Cheyenne looks so adorable.  As Cheyenne gets older she tires out faster, like we all do.  I know that TheGirl and I want Cheyenne around for a long time.  As long as this world lets us have her around.  A few years ago she wasn't even in my life and now I find that I need her to stick around as long as possible, because without Cheyenne my life will be diminished.  I don't want to think about that.

donations at Montrose

Friday, August, 28, It looks like some idiot, or idiots, dropped off a bunch of donations at Montrose this week.  But, the thing is, it also looks like some other dummies went through the donations and made a mess of them on the back door of the library.  Fucking jerks.  I tossed all the books, because we don't have any method of dealing with these donations for now.  I wanted to put a sign up that said "no donations" on the book drops, but these idiot managers wouldn't let me.  Despite the fact that DrDeath himself said we are not taking donations at this time.  ARGH!  Idiots.

a view of a room

Saturday, August, 29, My aunt brought up something about my identity thief case from two years ago.  The court sent me a letter a few weeks ago, and I had it on my desk.  She looked through that stuff to find that.  Looking for what, I don't know.  But I don't like her snooping in my stuff.  Today I took this one security camera that I bought for outside, and placed it inside my room.  I can't have it outside since it's not weather-proof.  But, I can have it inside so I can see what the fuck she's doing in my room when I'm at work.  I don't like having to do this, but I also don't like her in my business.  Fucking bullshit.  I don't go into her room and look through her stuff.  She's treating me like a child, and that's not OK.

backyard

The weather finally got nice and cool enough yesterday and tonight that I was able to go outside and sit in my backyard.  FINALLY!  It's been weeks, or at least it feels like weeks.  The weather was so nice I actually had to wear a hoodie.  Now that's nice.

an announcement from Deetjen's, in Big Sur

Monday, August, 31, My buddy and I were texting this morning when he sends me a text saying that Deetjen's Big Sur Inn is closing.  Those who run the place can't afford to pay their lease because they've been closed for months due to this pandemic.  Couple that with the fires that are currently ragging just a few miles away, and their chances of getting any tourist even as things start to open up are slim.

Today I started my reference desk duty at San Marino, and I was busy.  There were fourteen messages on the voicemail.  I went to work on going through them.  There were some that were hang ups, but there were still eleven patrons to call back.  I spent most of the time on the desk calling back.  I also had to work on my weekly video.  I barely finished it all on time.  I think next week I'll spend my time out in the reference desk, since not being there today in the morning made me have to catch up later.

caught red handed

I put up that security camera in my room in order to see what my aunt does in my room when I'm away.  Sure enough, I caught her going right to my desk drawer and looking through my stuff.  Fucking bullshit.  I think she went through a wallet I have in there.  I have a bunch of money in there as well.  Like a few hundred dollars.  I know she didn't take any of the cash, but what the fuck is she going going through my drawer?  I fucking hate it.  I'm glad I can watch what she's doing.

Wrap-up, Why not get to the point?  This month was completely shitty.  What with the heat, the fires, and the fucking lies from the President, this month might have been the worst of an already horrible year.  There's a point where you just can't wait for tomorrow and hope that it's better than yesterday, because each day brings more shit.  It's so frustrating.  I'm alive though.  With that I will give this month a D grade.  On to September, which is my birthday month.  I hope it gets better.
