  April was the Cruelest month

The Eliot poem "The Waste Land" starts with the line, "April is the cruellest month." It seems that Eliot know that there was something sinister about April.  April 2011 was a tough month for me.  But I'll get into that in the update.

Afterthoughts : This Past Month

April was pretty terrible.  I'm still without a car, and the fund that I had for a car evaporated because I had to get a tooth pulled.  Instead of having a nice little nest egg ready to use for the car, I have nothing.  Dang.

Hulu, circa late 1990s

April 1, Came home from a long day at work to watch a little television.  Of course there was nothing on.  So I went on Hulu to check out something only to find that Hulu looked a little different than it usually does.  Turns out that Hulu was playing a bit of a joke on everyone, displaying the site as if it was the early days of the internet.  All the way down to the "download Netscape" button on the bottom of the page.  Nice touch.  Those badges were EVERYWHERE.

6 a.m. and waiting for the bus

April 2, I picked up some extra hours at work, but because I don't have a car I had to wake up extra early in order to reach work at 9am.  Here is a picture of the street at 6am, as I waited for the bus.

Metro pimp

April 10, One is bound to run into some strange characters on the bus and metro system here in Los Angeles.  This cat is one of those characters.  He was dressed to the "nines," you might say.  I have no idea what to make of such a sight.

Chili-cheese onion rings

After work my coworker and I went to Slaw Dogs for a little something to eat.  I didn't want the same old thing, but I wasn't sure what to get.  For some reason I had been craving onion rings, but just plain old onion rings wasn't going to be enough for me.  Then it hit me, chili-cheese fries.  And another great thought hit me, why not chili-cheese onion rings? I balked at the fries because I was really craving onion rings.  Adding the chili on top really gave the onion rings a different flavor.  They were good.  So yeah, eat your heart out Food Network.

Touring The Huntington

April 18, Went to the Huntington with The Girl.  Had a great time despite the fact that it was a really warm day, and that my tooth was hurting.  We didn't get to see everything.  The Japanese garden, one of my personal favorites, was closed due to the fact that they are remodeling it.  There were still plenty of other things to see.  And it was The Girl's first time going, but certainly won't be the last.

April 20, After suffering for three days with terrible tooth pain, today I finally got my tooth extracted.  The tooth was so badly broken up that it could hardly be called a tooth.  It had broken apart about two years ago, but didn't hurt.. until this weekend.  Then it hurt like a bastard.  The dentist had been planning on doing a root canal on it, but other teeth and a wisdom tooth behind it complicated matters.  So it had to wait, until today.  Now, it's gone and I'm no longer in pain.  But the cost of the extraction wiped out my car fund.  I'll have to wait to get a new set of wheels.

"Little other care hath she"

April 23, had a big photo shoot for my site with one of my co-workers as the model.  It's hard for me as an amateur to get people to pose for me.  But thankfully Arpine was receptive to the idea.  She told me that she feared cameras, and that she isn't one to seek the camera.  Taking the bull by the horns, Arpine went to the task at hand and channeled some inner model for this shoot.  It was great because I have this notion that I should be photographing regular people instead of models.  A model knows what to do, and looks great.  But a regular person can bring a photograph a quality that isn't going to be found with someone who is polished.  Of course there's always the possibility that the photos are going to come out horrible.  Thankfully these came out great.  Good work me! LOL

April 24, I fucked up royal.  The Girl asked me to go to Disneyland with her and her daughter, but I had reservations.  But, what I didn't realize was that this was VERY important to her.  By not going I insulted her to the Nth degree.

April 26, The Girl has forgiven my stupidity.

Etcetera : iPhone Project 52/2011 April pictures

Now that the 2010 iPhone 52 project is done I've decided to continue with that same theme and post more pictures featuring the many qualities and apps on my iPhone for 2011, not just one particular app like last year.  I decided to post one picture using different apps on Sunday, and continue showcasing the ShakeItPhoto "fauxlaroid" app on Mondays thoughout the year.  Enjoy.
