Afterthoughts : This Past Month
I got sick during the last few days in October. I thought it was just another ordinary cold. Little did I know it would be perhaps the longest, and most persistent, cold I have ever had. November was dominated by this illness. As I write this particular paragraph it's November 28 and I'm still feeling a little sick. I have a cough that goes away, but then hits me. So I'm definitely not 100% yet, and it's been a month since I first became sick. OK, on the the month's chronicle.

Nov 9, It's only today that I finally feel somewhat healthy after suffering the last few days with a terrible cold. Ever since I went to that strip club with my friend I've been feeling sick. It got worse on Sunday and since I was covering for someone at work I missed Monday and Tuesday. Today I limped into work and somehow worked my shift and taught my senior computer class. I'm not entirely sure how I made survived.

Nov 14, I'm still not 100%. I have a persistent cough that hurts my head and my upper body. Since last I wrote I revisited the doctor. TheGirl took me to an urgent care facility to get me some medical attention since I've been feeling miserable. Matter of fact, the meeds they gave me at first didn't take. They put me on stronger meds after my second visit.

It's a Small World covered in Christmas lights
Nov 18, I still can't say that I'm feeling 100% yet, but the idea of visiting Disneyland with TheGirl is too strong a pull to keep me down. I am feeling the best I have since I first got sick. Tonight we wanted to stroll along the happiest place on Earth hand in hand, enjoying the lights and the chill in the air. It was actually quite magical. Disneyland looks wonderful during the holidays, but TheGirl and I have never been there with that special someone.. until tonight. I kept insisting that we have hot chocolate. So one of the main things we had to do while at Disneyland was drink some hot chocolate. It was funny because the first place we went had a HUGE line waiting to buy coffee and hot chocolate. I guess everyone had our idea, because the next three places we went to also had long lines, or had run out of hot chocolate. Finally we tried the Tomorrowland terrace and THERE we found a short line and hot chocolate. It was yummy. The picture above is of It's a Small World, which was decked out for Christmas. Every 15 minutes the lights would turn off and an animated video overlay would play right on It's a Small World. What a magical night.

Nov 20, I can finally say that I'm feeling well. Though, I STILL can't say that I'm at 100%. The major symptoms are gone, but I still have what I call a "frog" in my throat. Hopefully the last of the meds I have in my body will kill off this terrible thing that has beaten me up for nearly the entire month.

Chinatown on Thanksgiving
Nov 24, Thanksgiving has never been a big holiday in my house. Most years we don't even do anything. Occasionally I'll be invited to a friend's house and I'll go over and have dinner with them. This year was going to be the first Thanksgiving with TheGirl. But it didn't turn out like either of us thought. Her ex told her son to not "hang out" with me, and he listened. So the plans go over to his place for Thanksgiving were shattered when he basically said that I wasn't invited. With that TheGirl decided that she needed to get away from it all and get out of town. We talked about it, because I didn't want her to just bolt. However, I also didn't want to tell her what to do. So the day's plan was for her to get out of town, and then come back in the early evening. In the meantime my Aunt and I went to visit my Godmother and take her to dinner. But since we went so early we ended up having more of a Thanksgiving lunch with her. At all places, Jack-in-the-box. Yeah, my old friend where I ate Thanksgiving in 2007 after my father died that day. My aunt and I then went home and I waited for TheGirl to come into town. When she did we went up the street to The Valley Inn, a restaurant with a bar that we hoped would be open. Sure enough it was, and we had a little food and a couple of drinks. The drinks became our truth serum and we cleared the air a bit.. which is always good. So a terrible Thanksgiving actually turned out pretty good in the end. But it was all because I got to spend time with TheGirl.

Posing at the San Antonio winery
Nov 25, TheGirl and I spent the day after Thanksgiving at the MOCA checking out there Weegee exhibit. Weegee was a photographer known for his street and gritty photography. This exhibit focused on the time spent in Los Angeles, and was far less gritty than his New York photography. As a matter of fact his LA work was more whimsical. I like his more gritty work, but the exhibit was good. After the MOCA we went to a place we had planned to go a long time ago, the San Antonio winery. The food, the company, the atmosphere was great. We'll definitely go back again.

Nov 28, My car Crockett got his first oil change today. I drove that car for nearly 9,000 miles before the little light inside said anything about changing the oil. The guy at the dealership told me to just watch for that light, because the car would tell me when it needed an oil change. Well, a couple of weeks ago it did. And today, I had the new experience of going to the dealer and getting my car serviced. I've never had to do that before.

Nov 30, I woke up this morning feeling that damn frog in my throat still. But then I coughed, and that piece of phlegm that wouldn't come out FINALLY coughed out of my throat. I feel better already.
Tonight I went over to TheGirl's place after work. It's super windy out. Well, as I walked up to my car I noticed that a big limb had fallen besides my car. Thankfully it hit besides, and not right on the car. The branch was big enough that even though it didn't hit directly on my car it left three nickel sized dents on the passenger side. :( It could have been worse though.
